Pluton Blue

I looked at two CPO Seltos (both SX trims) yesterday, and fell in love with the interior and features of a 2025 pluton blue one. It has a black interior, sunroof, heated AND ventilated/cooled seats (I live in Florida and overheat like crazy so the ventilated seats would be nice), low mileage, it felt nice to drive, the price is good, and fits my custom ultralight rigid wheelchair really well in the trunk. However, the pluton blue exterior is getting me. I absolutely don’t hate the color, and I actually thought it was a lot prettier in person than online. But I’m so used to basic, dark colored cars (current car is gray, one before that was dark blue), and I basically always wear black clothes, so the pluton blue feels like it’s very unique and colorful and I’m a bit worried I’ll regret it. I also saw a gravity gray Seltos (different trim) and really liked that color. BUT, I think I’m more worried about finding an SX with the mileage and features this one has in a different exterior color, since there really aren’t many certified SX trims in my area, and honestly this has been the only one I’ve seen so far with sunroof/ventilated seats/all that.

Should I go for the blue or hold out for potentially finding an SX with these features in a different color? If you have pluton blue, have you been really happy with the color? Does anyone have pluton blue and actually regret that color?

ETA: I know I can get it wrapped if I end up hating the color, but that’d probably be kind of a last resort since vinyl wrapping seems pretty dang expensive.

Smartdrive & side guard approval

I found out on July 21st that insurance approved my Smartdrive and new side guards for my chair. Based on experiences, how long do you think I should expect to be waiting between approval/ordering and delivery? My ATP said it’d be quick once insurance approved but I’m not really sure what she meant by quick lol

ETA: I’m in the US and using Numotion

2024 Seltos SX vs other trims

I’ve driven Toyota Camrys all my life, but I’m now an ambulatory wheelchair user and I’m looking to get a subcompact to make loading/unloading my rigid manual chair easier. I’ve done a TON of research and the Seltos seems really promising in terms of interior space, and relatively promising in terms of reliability and safety.

I’ve mostly been eyeing used/pre owned 2024 models in my area, maybe 2025 if I find a good one (I’m in the US). Here’s the deal: I really don’t need the top trim option, but I think the SX has a couple of differences from the other trims that I’d prefer to have, like an automatic parking brake (instead of the manual handbrake). I believe the SX also has an actual spare tire instead of just a repair kit, but someone correct me if I’m wrong. Those two things feel important to me, and aside from those, I just want to make sure the trim includes rear air vents and a pull down center arm rest area in the back.

On top of all that, I believe the SX has a 1.6 L turbo engine vs a 2.0 L, but I’m kind of clueless as to how those compare and if one is significantly better than the other. Coming from Camrys and never having driven a Kia, I just want to make sure whatever I end up with will be reliable long term, safe, and likely won’t cause any major issues!

For reference, I currently have a 2016 Camry LE, so it’s nothing fancy and I’m sure any sort of newer Kia will be an upgrade lol

Hyundai Kona vs Mazda CX30

I posted a bit ago about looking at subcompact SUVs that’ll be better for loading/unloading my rigid manual wheelchair than my current Camry. I’ve been researching a ton since then, and I realized that my Camry would probably give me quite a bit more than I expected for trade in, which helps a lot with my budget for the cars I was exploring.

I liked the Kia Seltos, but don’t love the overall reviews on Kia in general, especially with how used to the reliability of Toyotas I am. I started looking a lot more into the Hyundai Kona (almost exclusively at 2024 and up), and found a few options near me, like a 2025 Kona SEL FWD at a good price. But I realized Hyundai also has a lot of mixed reviews in terms of reliability and ongoing issues.

I realized some Mazda CX-30s aren’t as expensive as I thought they’d be, and Mazda seems potentially more reliable and promising than Hyundai or Kia. I found a 2024 CX-30 AWD 2.5 S near me, and it’s even less expensive than the Kona I had found. I know the CX-30 has quite a bit less trunk/back seat space than other ones I’ve been looking at, but as of right now, I almost never have more than one person in my car (besides me driving), and I believe there should be plenty of space for my chair in the trunk if the back seats are down as well.

Give me the pros and cons of the CX-30, especially compared to the Kona! How reliable is Mazda and the CX-30 compared to Toyota? Is Mazda generally much more reliable with less issues than Kia or Hyundai?

Car options

Sorry this is a bit lengthy:

I’m an ambulatory user and I usually drive normally. I’ve had a (used) 2016 Toyota Camry since 2021. I CAN fit my Aero Z into the trunk, but I have to break it down as far as I can (wheels off, backrest down), which is doable, but it’s really difficult for me to pack it up and put it in the trunk without triggering a LOT of symptoms, so I normally can’t on my own. It’s a lot easier for me to put it into the trunk of my mom’s 2021(?) RAV4 hybrid, since it fits well in there without having to take the wheels off, and it’s a flat trunk space vs a trunk space down inside the car like my Camry, if that makes sense. I’m working with my doctors and vocational rehab on finally getting a power assist, getting back to a job, and doing more outside the house, so we’re thinking about getting a new car that would make getting my chair in and out on my own easier on me.

I was hoping to find something sort of in between the sizes of the Camry and the RAV4, not too high or too large, hopefully the smallest sort of SUV option I can get. I found “subcompact SUVs” and those seem like they could be good, so I’ve been looking a lot at the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona, and Subaru Crosstrek (Crosstrek is a little pricey for me though). I’ve also looked a bit at the Toyota Corolla Cross.

I’ve been pouring through threads, reviews, experiences, complaints on the cars and I’m so mixed! So what cars do you all use that fit your chair well? What do you love about them?

Small fan options

I live in Florida and have pretty bad temperature regulation issues/heat intolerance, and the heat here has been pretty brutal lately. A while ago, I bought a basic octopus fan to wrap onto the front frame of my Aero Z and point upwards at me to help a bit, but it doesn’t stay put on the frame very well and falls to the side, so I haven’t used it much. Does anyone have suggestions for small/personal fans that could hook onto my chair (and actually stay put… and work well)? I don’t have arm rests on my chair so the best option would likely be the front frame.
