Currently have Fiberoptic Internet however it’s not available in the house we are moving to. Quick deal search on CTM led to Virgin Media Gig1 or Vodafone Full Fibre 910. I would prefer Fiberoptic or Community Fiber but they are not available, so which of these services is more recommended?
Also what is the best provider in terms of modem currently being offered etc?

My wife has recently received a pay rise, bringing her base salary to £104,000. In addition, she receives a car allowance and an annual performance bonus, both of which are variable.
We are expecting our second child in July. Her employer will provide full maternity pay for the first seven months, after which her pay will reduce before eventually moving onto Statutory Maternity Pay. She intends to take the full 12 months of maternity leave.
We are planning to make use of the 30 hours free childcare entitlement from September 2027.
Am I correct in assuming that, because she will not receive her full salary during the 12-month maternity leave period, her total taxable income for that tax year is likely to be below £100,000? If so, would that mean:
- She would remain eligible for the childcare support schemes that have the £100,000 income limit; and
- She would avoid the loss of the personal allowance associated with income above £100,000?
In addition, what is the best way to estimate or calculate the correct tax code and overall tax position during maternity leave, taking into account the reduced pay, car allowance and bonus?

We are purchasing a old 1930s property in London. The house requires full modernisation, which we knew, and we did a L3 survey with no big surprises. We will not do ECIS as will be rewiring. Is it worth doing a CCTV drainage survey? Not looking to renegotiate just not any nasty surprises.
For the survey do the vendors need to be at home or can it be done from the street?
