Edit: looks like there are others posts with similar issues. For one here https://www.reddit.com/r/pourover/s/cj8PYrop1C
Hi Everyone,
I recently got an MHW3-BOMBER Assassin kettle rated for 1200w.
When the kettle is heating the last few degrees all the LEDs in my house starts flickering.
When I use the temp hold mode same thing happens.
I have a regular kitchen kettle which is rated for 2200w and nothing happens when that heats the water. It probably heats linear as there is no temp control there.
As per ChatGPT temp controlled kettle rapidly turn off/on during the end to not shoot up the set temps. And nothing to be worried about But why is it affecting the whole house?
Anyone here observed something similar happening or should I contact the seller to get the kettle replaced?
Thanks!
Hi Everyone,
I am new to Pourover.
Got my setup recently.
Benki brewer v60
Cafec Abaca+ filter papers
Using my espresso grinder DF54 with slow feeder attachment
Using Naivo dragon Jam Kolli Berri Anaerobic naturals beans - Omni roast
Recipe used: James Hoffman
16g coffee at 53 grind setting
1:15 ratio
Water at 93 degrees
60g bloom for 45 seconds with swirl for 5-10 seconds
60g equal pours. Every 10 seconds
3mins for draw dawn.
This is how my V60 looks like after drawdown in 3 mins. Attached image.
Please guide me where to take it from here. It tastes decent. Not bitter, a little acidic. Could have been more punchy but it isnt. How to make it taste amazing?
Should I play with grind size? Or anything else?
Thanks!
Hi everyone!
I have a DF54 with stock burrs. I also use a slow-feeder attachment that feeds approximately 1 bean per second. I don’t want to replace the stock burrs with brew burrs because I use the DF54 for espresso as well.
A slow feeder does reduce a lot of fines from an espresso-focused grinder.
I recently got a V60 setup, and I’m not sure what I’m missing out on by using the DF54 with a slow feeder instead of a grinder geared specifically toward pour-over or a grinder that's highly recommended by experts.
I’ve shortlisted a few options that are available in my country and are reasonably priced:
I’d prefer not to go beyond this budget range as I am just starting the pourover journey. The K-Ultra and ZP6 are $260+.
Now my questions are:
Either way, I do need a travel grinder when I visit my parents, so I’ll have to buy one of these. It would be great if the grinder could also handle AeroPress and moka pot too.
Thanks a lot in advance!
I am looking for a grinder which does Pourover / mokapot as well as something which I can travel with when I visit my parents. I have Mokapot there. Might travel with an Aeropress in future.
At home I have a DF54 for espresso and many here as well as other online reddit posts told me that it doesn't do well on filter.
K6 - 11k Flipkart
C5 pro - 8.5k fixCoffee
K6 has bigger burrs, tried and tested for years but I also see many telling that the build quality is not good, rust etc.
C5 pro is relatively new, solid build, collapsible handle(travel friendly) a bit cheaper and comes in white! Matches my all white equipment setup.
I am yet to buy the Hario Switch and a Gooseneck kettle so was limiting my budget of handgrinder to max of 12k.
