Those of you who have an espresso machine at home - how/why did you end up getting one? How is your experience and advice to some one looking to?

For context - I have (what I think) is a fairly good setup at home. I have a Baratza encore grinder, and typically make a pour over with my Hario V60 or an aeropress before leaving for work, and weekends is usually a moka pot or French press at home. I recently started thinking of getting an espresso machine. nothing too grand, a dedica which I can buy for around 12K on sale. however some research made me realise that I may need to change my encore - or at least that is what the internet says. I mean I can get a good hand grinder or a df54/rift 64 and my setup will be up and ready.

However before I want to commit to the purchase- I want to check with the folks who do have an espresso machine at home - why did you get one? How has your experience been so far? What would you suggest to someone like me?

I know cumulative I might end up spending around 25K-35K on a new machine + grinder depending on what configuration I go with - but good to check with folks here about their experience :)

2 cup moka pot recommendation?

I have a old 3 cup moka pot.

Basket fills around 21 grams of fine ground coffee.

Coffee grind size is closed to espresso not much corse grind.

It hold around 110-120 ml water in chamber.

On amazon I see most are of 3 cup moka pot.

Is this standard?

Why there are no cheap 2 cup moka pot?

French Press - 350ml

This 350ml French Press from Sipologie is surprisingly compact—perfect for traveling or keeping at the office. I was looking for something small since I’ll be working from the office for the next 8 days straight, and this seems like the right fit. It even comes with a 7g measuring spoon.

Also, Fraction 9’s Kalyancool Maharani and Savorworks’ Boss’s Wife are OTW!

Would love some French press recipe recommendations, especially for light and medium roasts.

Happy Sunday!! Ripple heart

I think this is probably one of my best pours yet. Kinda want to learn those heavy flow rosettas now. Using fraction9’s everyday gold (i’m blown by the versatility of these beans)

Doing it right ?!

I assume coffee puck is one of the metric to measure if your extraction went through correctly.
Grateful that I nail it everytime especially on a Sunday morning.

Substance Cafe Gesha Village Lot 126 is…. Satisfying

Overall, it is an elegantly floral Gesha backed by a wonderfully rounded acidity.

Here’s how it comes together in the cup:

Hot: Rose heavily dominates over jasmine right off the brew. The floral presentation is clean and very distinct.
Warm: This is the absolute peak window for this coffee where maximum complexity unlocks. A striking, vibrant lemon tart acidity pushes through, accompanied by distinct peachy ferment notes. Makes it push towards a lemon cheesecake. The finish is beautifully sweet, all while that rosy aroma in the background.
Cold: It drops off significantly at the bottom of the cup. It loses a lot of that warm complexity, and a faint astringency kicks in. It never gets overwhelming, but it is definitely a coffee you want to finish in the warm zone.

Rest Period : 20 Days

Brewing Parameters:

Brewer: Hario Switch Base + V60 Neo
Filter: Cafec Abaca
Grinder: 1Zpresso ZP6 (5.2 Clicks, can go even finer)
Water: Custom ~36 TDS (Low Buffer)
Method: Lance Hedrick’s Gong Fu
Temps: Bloom - 75C, Brew - 93C
Dose: 15g Coffee / 250g Water

Need advice on Mokapot sizes

Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a Bialetti mokapot express. It is mostly to make iced americanos for me and my wife in average 300ml coffee mug sizes. I'm confused between the 4-cup or the 6- cup.

The aim is to get a strong coffee that I can add ice to and a little water as well. We both like decently strong iced coffee so don't want to make a mistake in size. What would be the best size for my situation?
