Memorable experience @ Spillhouse, Viman Nagar, Pune

I wanted to have a coffee to clear my head. Found this cafe randomly while looking for nearby cafes. Number of reviews were less but they had pour over coffee so decided to take a chance and man was it worth it.

I explained to barista that i am very keen on learning about coffee and trying out different coffees as it fascinates me.

Out of the selection he recommended me "Honey sundried" coffee. I said ok and was heading towards table to sit and he askes if i would like to make the coffee myself. I was overjoyed on hearing that. I had never made a pour over before.

He brought out the equipments to my table and explained me the process of blooming and showed me how to pour water into the coffee. Then let me do it as well. Coffee was really good. It was heavy on the citrusy side. As mentioned in the notes part i could taste the orange rind note and nothing else(very new to the note thing 😅)

I understand many people here might feel that there is nothing special about making a pour over but this was my first time and the cafe made it possible. It was a memorable experience for me 😊

Coffee & pasta @ Godaam, Shivajinagar

Visited Godaam for the first time. Tried their oragami pour over coffee and fagottoni pasta stuffed with cream cheese in basil pesto.

Coffee was really good and had a unique taste. The barista showed me a few options of coffee available. I chose a coffee that had notes of jamun. This was the first time i was able to actually kind of taste a note in the coffee. Quite unique taste from other coffees i have tried.

Pesto sauce of Fagottoni pasta was decent. This was the frst time i tried Fagottoni. I felt that the the pasta sheet itself felt too thick. I personally feel it should have been a bit more thinner considering you will get 4 thick edges eventually.

All in all good experience. Coffee was the highlight.

My experience at an event in the dressing room KP

I was very excited for this event to try and learn about new ingredients and dishes as I had never tried french cuisine. Honestly the food was ok but the overall experience was a bit of a dissapointment.

Things i tried:

French onion soup with sourdough bread and emmental cheese.

Parmesan risotto with crutons, 2 mystery sauces and black olive dust.

Crep filled with mascarpone cheese topped with orange, orange zest and orange caramel sauce.

Cucumber and elderflower drink.

Everything i tried was first time for me so i did not have a baseline to compare to.

Everything was balanced in terms texture and flavours but onion soup and dessert were too sweet for my taste.

The disspointing part:

Cafe is small and for people who went alone like me, i had to sit on an uncomfortable wooden bar stool and have a 3 course meal.

when you go to an event like this you expect the chef to come speak with you or atleast interact with you, maybe if possible explain the dish and ingredients. Chef was there but he was only interacting with the group of people maybe he invited.

If this was a too much of an ask, it is atleast expected for the waiting staff to know what dishes they are serving. Literally no one serving knew what each dish was exactly. The mystery sauce i mentioned was a mystery because waiting staff did not know what it was. I explicitly asked about it but they were unsure of the answers they gave. The were going back to chef to ask about it. The brown sauce on risotto, staff said it is "butter garlic" sauce. I highly doubt that.

The main reason i was ready to pay high prices for food and take 2 buses to reach location was for the experience and that was not up to the mark.

The only highlight for me was that cucumber drink. Man it was refreshing.

My 1st home made cold brew! Got scholded by parents😅

I very recently got introduced to the amazing and expensive world of specialty coffee. The moment i tried my 1st cold brew in a cafe. Was hooked. Next few months i spent thousands on trying coffee in different cafes.

Then decided to take a step further and brew my own. The moment my parents learnt how much 200gms of coffee costs, they were furious 😅🤣

I am still learning to identify subtle notes in coffee, but right now i am enjoying a cold refreshing beverage brewed for around 30hrs!

Whats up with the unpredictable bus timing and bus stops!

I go to bus page in google maps. It says bus will arrive at time T, then bus decides that it wants to arrive on T + 30! Fine delays are common, then you waive hand to stop bus and driver just ignores me as if i am invisible and passes right by me. Then someone says bus dosent stop at this stop! I mean wtf then i walk anywhere from 200-500 mtrs and wait for another 30-40 mins for next bus to arrive.

How do you guys even deal with it?

My memorable journey of buying this piece of art 😊(long post)

Backgound: I had always dreamed of creating a watch collection once i start earning money. During initial days of my career, i sarted saving for the same. The first ever watch i bought from my money was one of the first releases of a titan smartwatch. It was an impulse purchase. This shitbox used to show that i completed 10k steps when i was on a bus. Horrible UI, and very weird feeling vibration motor plus was not able to return it. I was not expecting this to happen. One of the worst spends of my life. It was basically used as a digital watch and nothing else.

Parents scholded me for my impulsive behavior. For context, at this point my salary itself was around 20-25k.

After this i made it very clear to myself that i will not compromise even a little bit on the watch i want no matter how long it takes. I rather not have a watch than regret purchasing it. Then i fixed my next target. A GA2100. I was very clear that i did not want bluetooth version of it. It needs to be elegant and unique. Then the hunt for a perfect watch started.

Journey: I started following insta pages who update upcoming launches, started visiting websites who provide similar information and started visiting upcoming launch page of casio india store website. This almost became a ritual that i regularly did. There were very good launches during this time like the rose color dial ga2100, black ga-b2100 with multi colour text or black ga-b2100 with bright yellow text and hands. All were good but either the did not meet bluetooth criteria or were not love at first sight.

Then one fine day an announcement came that ga2100 manga edition is launching soon. The moment i saw the images, it was love at first sight. I was pretty sure that this is the ga2100 i want to get. But there was a problem.

Initial rumors were that it was going to be a japan only release. The moment i saw this, i started contacting everyone in my contact who had the smallest chance to get me this watch from japan. Could not find anyone to help me out. I even explored the option of shadow ordering but it seemed too risky. Dropped the plan.

Next, randomly it was accounced that this watch is being released in US. I thought i will get it from some contacts over there. The moment it went live, within minutes it was out of stock. Same happened in France. At this point i almost lost hope that i will ever be able to own this watch. I still continued my initial ritual and one fine day this watch was available for pre-order in casioindiastore. The moment i saw it, i borrowed 11k from parents and prebooked it.

Then the wait started. If anyone has seen the old casio store website, you would know how shady it looked. Plus it had very minumum customer support. Now i was a bit scared. I did not want to loose another 11k. Started sending them mails and called them so frequently that at one point the customer care guys were fed up of answering me.

After 1 full month of uncertainity, the watch arrived at my house. All the work had finally paid off.

I was so scared of loosing this watch that i did barely wore it for 1 yr 😅🤣. It is only recently that i started wearing it.

My parents still mock me saying i paid 11k for a kids watch but hey it is my kids watch i am proud owning it 😊 no matter what people think.

Reimagned black forest cake @ Momoka 🤩

My god was this dish innovative. Here is all it had:

. Top quenelle is whipped cream.

. The cherry is cherry jam shaped like it.

. Outer coating with cake and chocolate bits

. Then comes milk chocolate mousse

. Next white chocolate mousse

. Cake and cherry jam center

The dish was beautiful and in both looks and taste. I would highly recommend trying this place if you love desserts.

Tried Asha dining hall. I have doubts about their aamras

I went to asha dining hall in shivaji nagar upon a recommendation especially for their aamras.

Food was okok. I had called the restaurant before going. They mentioned aamras was mady using Alphonso mongoes.

When i visited the place, i saw canned mango puree lying around in the entrance. It says alphonso mangoes. They might be technically correct but when a person is paying 330 for a thali or 80 bucks for a small bowl or aamras i atleast hope it is fresh rather than a component of it being canned.

Have you guys noticed the same or am i just overthinking?

Question: can you guys identify different notes in a coffee?

I am very new to coffee very recently tried cold brew and am hooked to it. To try new coffees i went to a cafe. They had pour overs named as follows:

Mogra Raspberry in the loop Strawberry in the loop

I really wanted to learn what all this means. The barista mentioned that thay are different roasts of coffee from different regions and they have the mentioned floral or fruity notes. I asked how does one differentiate between 2 seemingly similar fruits strawberry and raspberry in a coffee. He says a coffee person will be able to differentiate.

I tried the mogra and raspberry i like both of them but i could not see the difference in both of them.

Maybe my taste buds need to mature to find the difference, maybe it is just marketing jargon to make people buy more coffee😅.

I would really appreciate if you guys would help me figure out the details and would you guys actually be able to taste the difference between strawberry and raspberry notes in the coffee?

Note: just to give you context of how noob i am, initially thought all these 3 pour over were pouring hot coffee over the mentioned flowers or fruits to infuse flavour with the coffee😅. I was very wrong🤣
