POJ isn't all that🤷🏾‍♂️

I'm probably among the first set of people that finished pursuit of jade.

The positives:

It was nicely costumed, the cinematography was cinematographying😅

The comedy and chemistry between the two leads was done well.

And.... well that's it. It has nothing else lol so I never understood where all the HYPE was coming from. Unless ofcourse the people hyping it just started watching cdramas??🤔🤔

Someone that it was literally their first costume drama even claimed it was a "masterpiece". Really? 😭😭

Come back to that rating after you've watched atleast 30 of the top ranked dramas lol

Note: I'm not saying POJ is bad. It's just a cute drama. Kinda like idol dramas. Nothing much going for it except everyone just going around looking cute. With a sprinkle of some nice fight scenes

Our ML barely did anything through out the whole drama. Passenger princess basically lol and every 2 seconds he is injured again😅😅

Supposedly Almighty Marquis Wuyuan, a character that was supposed to be exuding mad aura was reduced to an eye candy🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

None of his backstory was explored. We didn't get to see him properly handle much military tactics. He barely fought. He barely spent time in the court. We almost didn't see any actual court politics. No angst, no real schemes, twists etc.

7/10 drama at best. What did you rate it?

Unexpected issues with the first Jasmine

Prince Ding is supposed to be this smart character but why TF has he been naive and dvmb all through out this drama?

I'm in Episode 23 and particularly after what just happened, my mind is boiling with anger😫 (I just hope that was part of his scheme because I refuse to believe he was that dvmb)

By the way, the drama has been good for the most part. Like I'm really enjoying it but i see so much holes that are so damn annoying because it wouldn't be hard to fill them. And our supposed smart ML, I have barely seen him do anything smart this whole damn time!!

Godd! I miss scheming leads like Hei Fengxi, Fan Xian, Prince Wuji, Ling Buyi, General Xiao from Rebel princess, Duke Su, ML from NIF. These were leads that made watching dramas so interesting. Have I exhausted the pinnacle of great script cdrama?

Guys, how are you enjoying Jasmine so far? Is there anything you would change at all?

Ashes of crown = rubbish?

I've only watched the first two episodes — this has been one of the dumbest dramas I've ever watched in my life😫😫

And I say this with all sadness because I even just started liking this ML after seeing his work in G2G but it appears he's not the main character here. Meaning I'm left with these dvmb characters (FL included). Hell FL already almost made me punch my screen with every dvmb word coming out of her mouth in episode 1.

I don't remember the last time i was already fast forwarding a drama before E1 even went half!!

Are they this bad at acting or was the script just so rubbishly written?

God they even added the PoS prince from "How dare you" 😫😫 his face annoys me so much that i think i might already detest the actor IRL. How can an actor be like that? And no, it doesn't mean he excels at his role (unless he's meant to be irritating). Edit: some actors IMO are not supposed to act villains, their voice and face just doesn't cut it. It makes all they say come out as cringe and/or out of place

I've seen many villains and they don't make your skin crawl just by looking at them or hearing them talk. BTW he's the reason i dropped how dare you, a drama i was enjoying

My mind is really about set on dropping this drama so guys please tell me, does it drastically get better from the next episodes? Only thing making me ask this is because I want to see how ML actor performs in this drama.

Issues with Mandarin programs

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some recommendations from people who have studied Chinese in China or just know about it.

My wife and I are planning to travel to China for one semester starting around September. Our main goal is to learn Mandarin, experience the culture and travel around the country during our free time. We're not looking for a degree program, just a non-degree Chinese language program for beginners.

I originally contacted many unis and never got a straight answer. Then decided to apply to two universities in Guangzhou. One never replied despite multiple emails and the other finally replied only to tell me their quota for the Chinese language program was already full.

I'm trying to find universities that are still accepting applications for September intake and can provide the admission documents needed for a student visa.

A few things about us:

• Complete beginners in Mandarin = zero unless few phrases from cdramas count

• Looking for a one-semester program only

• Prefer affordable tuition

• I love warm weather and absolutely do not do well in cold winters 😅

Because of that cold issue, I'm mainly looking at southern China. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Kunming, or anywhere else with a mild winter.

Has anyone studied at a university that would fit what we're looking for? I'd really appreciate any recommendations

Thanks alot!

Leads on zhao zhao adventures need to buckle up

I finally started this drama because I've been looking for it on my usual subs but I couldn't find it. Now, I just watched two episodes and I'm seeing a pattern that if they continue it I don't know if I can finish this drama. Which souls be a shame because ML is one of my favs and I like the FL too plus the fights are superb.

Back to my issue, tell me why the leads are unable to eliminate the people trying to kill them? They keep just hitting them with the dull part of their weapons instead of actually getting rid of them!!

They want to kill you, they've already badly wounded you (a strong chance of you dying) and yet all the chances you get to stop them, you're just throwing punches and sh*t?

What on earth is that? That is extremely unrealistic for a martial artist in their world where getting rid of dangers is paramount. Therefore it feels like lazy writing, leaving them alive to keep reusing those characters.

I don't like it. Have you watched this drama, does it get better in terms of leads learning to be decisive?

Pls what's the real translation of this from JOL

I watched Joy of life before on WeTV and they called it investigation office/bureau. Now I'm rewatching it on YouTube and it's translated as overwatch council. It's driving me nuts.

Which one is it?

I know I'll likely be in the minority but my rating of this drama went from 8.5 to barely 6.5, at most 7. The first 20 episodes or so was amazing.

It started great and was for most of it but later i started to see myself fast forward alot.

Too many missed potentials, Mr. Mu could've been so much more from how they presented him. He had so much aura at first when he was the young master then they washed all that out. Even during the final episodes, he was more or less useless in the fight. Like why on earth didn't they make him gain more power like they were positioning before, it doesn't have to be one that would hurt him!

And then all the fu**ing delulu explanations from the villans. If i hear one more word from either of them, i would punch my screen😭 and they keep trying to hear their side of the story. What damn side?!

>! And what demonic sect? You're all demonic sects ffs!, not more 10% righteousness in that whole damn place.!<

Don't even get me started on all the damn blood vomiting, like give it a break.

>!As for the relationship, they dragged it out for so long that by episode 35, I couldn't care less about them kissing anymore. I even fast forwarded those scenes cos I just didnt care fornit anymore.!<

I remember having the same issue with POJ. Stop freaking dragging out the damn "will you be with me" troupe, it's tiring.

Finally, I loved this drama from the start and I suppose that's why i got really triggered knowing it could've been so much more. I don't think I'll be rewatching this.

If you finished this drama, how do you rate it and will you be rewatching?
