Hi there -- had this happen in a game the other night and couldn't quite figure out exactly what the answer was.
I have an [[Akroma Angel of Wrath]], and Friend A has an [[Alela Artful Provocateur]] on his board. On a prior turn, Friend B has cast [[Shifting Sky]] and turned all permanents white with its ability. I'm trying to attack Friend A, but from what I've read about Shifting Sky is that even though it turns all permanents white, the effect does NOT override Alela's color identity, and she does still have a black pip in her mana cost.
So, does Akroma's protection from black still see Alela's black pip, thus making Alela unable to block if I attack Friend A? Or since Alela is "white" thanks to Shifting Sky, can it now block Akroma despite the presence of the black pip?
In the end, we realized (perhaps incorrectly?) that it didn't matter a ton since Akroma has first strike, and that Alela wouldn't get the chance to damage Akroma anyway. But, we were still unsure about the protection thing, and in the moment and because we didn't want to spend all night googling, we just decided to play it as if Akroma no longer had protection from Alela (or other permanents) thanks to the Shifting Sky.
Was that the right play?

Japanese foil Ad Nauseum. It's such a gorgeous card. The other Japanese cards are amazing too. And I can't express how sick I think the Sol Ring looks. Incredible art. Didn't get anything too valuable from all the Mystical Archive cards but I love those treatments too, love the vibe and I think they're gorgeous.
