Last 3 shaves combined in 1 post. One common denominator, aggressive razors paired with sharp blades. I was talking to someone the other day, and this topic came up as to how newcomers are often advised to pair Sharper blades with milder razors and milder blades for aggressive razors. But very often it also results in a habit where people then assume that that should also be.

For example, I personally feel, that R41 works best with Feather. The geometry and the Feather blade will work together to give you an irritation free shave where you don't have to buff, and hence no repeat strokes.

The work of late was quite hectic, and hence didn't get the time to post these SOTD's on the day of the shave, but have been lurking on the sub nonetheless.

SOTD: 24.05.2025 A Lemintense Sunday Shave!

- Razor: Blackland Blackbird CC

- Blade: GWS

- Brush: Oumo Unsullied Badger

- Soap: Stirling Lemintense and a dash of Proraso Green

- Splash: Old Spice Fresh Lime

- Post: Alum and Proraso Sensitive Balm

Shave 🪒

I wanted a really very strong face scrub, and the Unsullied is the scrubbiest brush in my den. This brush needs to be soaked for at least 10 min in hot water to make it usable. And the brush itself needs to be dialled in to your face contour - need to be very mindful of where the brush is being splayed and where pressure needs to be light so as to not get a brush burn.

Stirling Lemintense feels like a sweet lemon Popsicle, which I wanted to dial down a little, plus also add menthol - so found Proraso Green to be the best way to achieve both.

The shave itself went fantastic, 3 passes and a couple of touch ups and got ultra BBS with practically no alum feedback. The fresh fragrance of the shave lingered almost two hours.

NPD: Sailor Profit Casual 1911 Standard M nib in Steel

Was very pleasantly surprised by the Sailor feedback. I absolutely loved it in the SS nib. Had got a chance to try the Professional Gear at a boutique store and tried out the 21k nib in Medium. That was a dreamy pen, but the nib felt a bit fragile. I guess my preference is for a stiff nib with a slight bounce.

Very happy with this Sailor pen. An absolute delight to write with

- Razor: The OG - Muhle R41

- Blade: Feather

- Brush: Zenith MB

- Soap: SV 70th Anniversary

Shave 🪒

Shaving off a 3 day beard, a small task for the mighty R41 paired with the Feather. A very aggressive and smooth shave!

I wanted to ask if Krishna Lyrebird inks (non iron gall), can be safely used in expensive pens? I currently have Krishna Lyrebird Blue, Blue-Black and Turquoise

I know quality can vary from batch to batch, but what's the general opinion and experience of people here?
