Fountain pens at work today

From left to right - Uniball air (roller/ball), Click orion BB nib, Scrikss metropolis 78 with Kanwrite M nib, Pelikan Jazz M nib, Jinhao 911 F nib.

  • Click orion is a favorite. Nice ergonomics, wet writer, juicy BB nib [Click].
  • Scrikss fountain pen - I am now using this pen with Kanwrite M nib now (original scriss nib was good too; it just got transplanted into some other pen during experimenting with nib-swaps). I like everything about this pen, except the fact that the cap is a bit too tight to pull-off. I have been using this pen for several years, and the cap has become a bit less tight over time. Otherwise, it is sturdy, comfortable to write, and has an elegant design.
  • Pelikan Jazz - The nib is buttery smooth; a delight to write. However, the section/body junction becomes loose while writing, and will need to manually tighten it. I plan to use an o-ring to hold it in tight grip.
  • Jinhao 911 - a wonderful pen. Easy to quickly pull off the cap and write without unscrewing. Wet fine lines, never skips. This particular jinhao 911 has been kept inked continuously for several months now.

Which ink looks better?

Hi! Which ink looks better, I can't decide. The first one is Uni Jetstream, the second is Pilot Acroball.

Reviews of top 10 rupees black ball pens

My observations after using multiple 10/20 rupees ball pens

Pentonic BRT- Good but has tonnes of ink blobbing and back impression issue

Uniball MFB- Great pen but availability of refills is question mark

Hauser XO- Dark pen, somewhat ok, quality is hit or miss, the position of holding pen, that groove is horrible.

Linc glycer- Very sharp, good pen but have to put pressure while writing. The pen holding position is awesome.

Cello gripper. Exceptionally sharp, takes a while to get smoother, slightly lighter as compared to others. This is new stock manufactured by cello in May 2026. Overall good pen

Linc pentonic normal ball pen: Very good holding position, very smooth, nice dark ink , doesnt bleed. This has been favourite as of now.

Would love to know your views and experiences as well. Thanks in advance.

Kanwrite pens

The slimmest pen on the bottom, in the first image is a very smooth wet writer.
I especially like the pull-cap models (first couple of pens, top, first image).
Kanwrite desire had no. 5 nib-pens earlier (2nd image). I find the no.5 nib desire much more ergonomic to hold and write (just personal preference).

Neorah Notebooks/Journals

So, I bought this journal from Neorah (B5 Hardcover) which they sell as FOUNTAIN PEN FRIENDLY PAPER, I didn’t know this is how fountain pen friendly paper supposed to perform like until I got this notebook 👍
*attached photos of notebook

A Redditor from this sub which is also very good friend of mine suggested me this notebook to show ink properties like sheen etc. his neorah notebook performed very well but which is also from previous batch tho. He sent me some pics of it writing yadda yadda so I was like okay let’s give it a try to this FOUNTAIN PEN FRIENDLY NOTEBOOK

And you guys can see in these pictures, so I talked to my friend again about the concern he suggested me to let company know about this. So I pinged company on WP and this is what there response was🥀
*attached photos of chats

And the ABUSIVE LANGUAGE EARLIER they are taking about is, I talked to this brand earlier on their another WhatsApp number in which I had asked them if they are using same paper in there every sizes or there is something change in which they didn’t reply tho they were seeing messages, everyday I used to ask them and the just see and dont reply, after a week I got fed up and irritated and asked them they don’t even have hands to reply then what is this customer service for? And after that they blocked me from that number. Which is they are referring as ABUSIVE LANGUAGE.
Bastards u guys deserved to be abused 😡

Well I bought this notebook from Amazon so they didn’t have any non returnable portal there, but after this so called company response I talked to customer service of Amazon and sent them sample of this Fountain pen friendly notebook they agreed to refund my money and when I asked them what should I do with this damn notebook now, they just simply said DISPOSE IT, NO NEED TO RETURN IT 😆😆🥰

W AMAZON, L NEORAH! I am never buying anything from you in future!

Made this card size notebook wallet

I recently bought some affordable A7 notebooks from Apica, and realized that they’re about the same size as a credit card; so I decided to make this TN Card Size style wallet that holds one (or up to three) of these tiny books, a pen and two cards. It’s a little thick coming from a single card wallet, but not as thick as a traditional bifold wallet. I’ve been using it every day and getting a ton of use out of the notebook! 😊

Best fountain pen for a budget of up to ₹15k?

My birthday’s coming up next month and I’m planning on getting myself a fountain pen as a gift

So far, I have gotten these:
- Pierre Cardin Golden Eye: Bought it to try fountain pens and loved it. It was scratchy at first but after some tweaking and putting in Iroshizuku ink, it writes great. It has a lot of feedback though (which I don’t actually mind).
- Sheaffer 100 (F): My first pricier purchase. It is my favorite so far. It’s so smooth plus the brushed metal and weight is what I have come love. I unfortunately dropped it and the nib bent. Have sent it for repairs currently.
- Jinhao 82 mini (F): Got this just a week ago since I wanted a small pen to keep in my purse plus also wanted to try a Chinese pen. love this so far too! So smooth! Ever since my Sheaffer is gone, this has been my daily main writer.
- Lamy Safari (M): I did not like this pen. It feels like a cheap pen when held and the M is too thick. I have decided to use it for bold headings and stuff only.
- Pilot MR (M): I haven’t yet used this pen. Waiting for an ink to come.

I’m open to suggestions on which pen to get. I’m also wondering if it’s better to get one premium pen or try a couple of cheaper Chinese pens like Asvine.

My preferred nib size if F (Japanese M)

I mostly use them for journaling with a bit of doodling and maintaining my tasks list everyday

What’s your Goldilocks zone?

Documenting one among the numerous perfect trifecta’s. The pilot VP with <SU> nib inked with Noodlers Southwest Sunset and the trusted workhorse Rhodia paper. This made my day.

What’s your perfect trifecta, what is the combo that delights you? I would love to see some photos of the same.

NPDelayed Post, NID, and Extremely bad experience with Jowo nibs.

Got ASA Ratan Ebonite a while back but the nib had a lot of issues, so wanted to fix them before posting about it. Its just the continuation of me getting very bad jowo nibs with this being the 5th one in a row that is bad. All 4 of the regular ones have had reverse grand canyoning which made it scratchy at a few angles, really bad hard starts, and some ink starvation when writing on more coated paper like Clairfontaine Veloute or Midori MD. First a stub from Ranga came that was so bad that it caught fibers in the tines when writing. I have no idea how that passed out from there. The Medium and Broad i got thereafter had the grand canyoning but much worse with the medium. The fine i got with the ASA had it too. Then so did a Medium that i got second hand. The viper section i have has a slightly off center cut.

Ok. End of Jowo Rant-gent.

The pen has some issues too, but overall I do quite like it. The feel in hand is lovely and despite the heft and chunk it doesn't feel unweildy and the big step down does not bother me. The glip feels nice too. However, the pen has some scratches on the body which Ranga Little Abhimanyu (Regular Ebonite) did not. I talked to ASA about this and he said it is within his margin of error, and they arent so obvious that they distract, I can and have mostly forgotten about them. But i was able to spot them with my naked eyes. From what I know this is a bit of an outlier tho so YMMV?

The color is quite nice on this. Rarely do I like the mottled ebonite look but this combination is really pretty. Another goof i saw though, the ASA and Ratan brandings on the cap liner aren't symmetrical. Instead of being 180 from each other, they're more like 160/200. Again, doesn't bother me, but like the scratches and bad nib individually they are passable with but together add up, especially combined with the slow responses and having received no message back after asking for nib replacement. I have since fixed it myself so haven't pushed.

In no way am I trying to create a cancel post Just sharing my experience with ASA, considerably more friction involved compared to Ranga, and especially Kanwrite. Even getting him to start responding to me was a long term task. I am sure he would have replied if I pushed more (he said he was agreeable to replacing the pen all together if i am dissatisfied on phone) but after the jowo experience streak I thought I'd rather try and fix it myself than go back and forth with more shitty jowo nibs.

So that is to say, I am not soured enough to not go for one again. I do really like this pen as a whole and now I guess I know what to expect so i wont be hoodwinked. My eyes are on the Nauka or Wizard next, but maybe after i try out other Indian makers too like Elica or Kiko.

The ink is lovely. Krishna Sailors Blue. Swatch attached. Its a really nice and bright cerulean/sky blue. would be a nice change from the deeper and darker blues I use regularly, until i go back to them at least. Voyage to India and Dayone Regal are my current daily driver blues otherwise.

NPD-click majestic and click student HT.

Got these two modest pens , worst part is I'm going to have to restrain myself from inking them until one of my currently inked ones run out.
