NPD: Ranga Markandeya

NPD: Ranga Markandeya

The Ranga Markandeya <M> arrived today and I filled it with Krishna’s Voyage to India Ink and it’s amazing.

I am trying this ink for the first time (already tried Krishna’s Plum and Smokey olive). I write a lot of notes in classmate pulse notebook and voyage to India is ghosting and transferring to the next page (the only ink that works with <M> Jowo in pulse notebook is the good old Bril’s Royal Blue).

Any suggestions for any other cheap or similar range (Krishna) ink that I can try and would also work with <M> nibs and not ghost to next page.

Thanks in advance.

Bril ink swatches

Swatched 7 shades of Bril Inks with a glass dip pen on Classmate notebook.

Some observations:

- They have decent saturation. Happy with the shades except Red that looks like deep orange.

- Green feathers a bit or could have been the paper

- Laurel Rose stains terribly. DO NOT USE IT IN DEMONSTRATORS, unless you want them in that colour

- they aren't waterproof

- glass bottles might leak. Need to store them carefully.

Skoolster liquid ink rollerball pen

Nib is super smooth and consistent till the end. Ink is dark and flows well. Pen doesn't skip even when writing very fast. Flow is good but feels too much on bad paper.

These pens don't dry up even after days of not using them. Reliable to just pick up and write. No skipping even when we write fast.

Ink is water resistant but not waterproof as shown. Not refillable as per the description but will try to fill with fountain pen ink once the pen is empty. Overall, worth the price.

Looks like a rebranded pen coz many similar pens available online.

NID & NPD: Bril Inks and Pens

Ordered these from Bril India site. Also ordered the demonstrator RFP6. Green pen (RFP2) is a freebie.

Packing is very good. They practically mummified the ink bottles (pic attached). Leaks are negligible. Shipping cost is reasonable too.

If anyone wants swatches, will be happy to swatch and share.

Newbie

Well I was aligning the tines of kakuno’s nib from last week not knowing all I really wanted is a LOUPE😑

Well I do think it is perfectly aligned but it still has some feedback while writing , is the feedback already there in kakuno’s nib or i did something wrong ?

And do u guys have more options for fountain pen in the budget under 3k because i just only have kakuno and a pot of waterman ink in my collection

Please do suggest me some fountain pen friendly papers too that I need for note taking so these will be in some budget

And some inks too I will prefer medium to wet

Thank You!!

Help me to decide between Sheaffer VFM and Pilot Metropolitan.

Seeking expert opinion between Sheaffer VFM and Pilot Metropolitan. Since both of these look almost similar please help decide which one will be a better choice.
Any alternatives I should consider in this price range ?

Sulekha swadhin green

sulekha Swadhin green ink

All my testing is on a really low gsm paper. This is the seventh sheet and 7 th ink - the one and only time sheet hasn't ripped even on overlapped areas. Means it's a really dry ink with medium saturated ink .

PROS -

* good for drawing and writing on low quality paper.

* Doesn't rip through paper soaking wet easily.

* Lay clean and crisp line

* Last longer than usual

CONS -

* Not very saturated colour even after constantly pushing ink to the nib

* Long writing won't be enjoyable

* Doesn't keep up the flow on very juicy broad nib

Click Aristocrat or Bina lincoln or Kanwrite desire

I have short listed these three pens and I will buy any one of these three (with fine nib).

Please share your experiences with these pens and suggest me which pen I should take.

Thank you in advance.

Fountain pen recommendation

Need a fountain pen recommendation below 500rs. I prefer fine nibs. Want it for multipurpose. Regular writing and also writing in account ledgers. I don't want the pen to leave a mark behind. I am very particular about it

NPD and NID

NPD:

Got myself 2 Moonman Wancais. These will be my EDC for college. Both have Fine nibs. Despite filling the pen to less than half capacity, I haven't suffered from any burping. I accidentally dropped my pen from a table and a bit of ink did spill on the cap, 2 small drops to be precise. Fortunately, I haven't suffered from any leaking issues either. EDIT: I have also left the pen unused for a day, yet, the nib hasn't dried out. Thus, I believe the cap seals well too? PS: These Wancais are so damn cute!

NID:

Got myself a beautiful bottle of Midnight Fuel from Bengal Writing Instruments (BWI). This is the second batch of their 80ml bottles. Waiting time was very long unfortunately, but well worth it I can assure you. The bottle has a screw cap. The bottle's capacity is 100ml, but they fill it till 80ml only. So, if you do notice a little less than full bottle, now you know why.

This is a very well behaved ink. Fairly wet, not too much, not at all dry. Very easy to clean. I hope it doesn't stain my demonstrator, but I'll have to see. I'll upload the writing sample in some time.

PS: The colour is so damn unique! Blue-Green-Black! Absolutely loving it. I just hope they make a 1L option soon.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

How do I make my pen a bit drier?

I think the text in the image is self explanatory.

I wish to reduce the flow of my wetter Wancai. Is it possible though? I don't wish to use drier inks by the way.

Please suggest possible solutions.

PS: This is also a writing sample for BWI Midnight Fuel.
