🐾 Spot is looking for a FOSPICE home! 🐾

This sweet old gentleman deserves to know what it feels like to be loved, comfortable, and spoiled again. ❤️
Spot is a 25-lb Chihuahua mix with aggressive bladder cancer, but thankfully, his symptoms are currently well controlled with medication. His veterinary care is 100% sponsored by Atlas Pet Vets in Frisco, and we’ll also cover his food!
He’s house-trained, sweet, and simply looking for someone willing to give an old dog the soft landing he deserves. Spot lost his home because he didn’t have access to the veterinary care he needed and wishes to not have him back, and now we want to give him the chance to spend his remaining time surrounded by love.
A FOSPICE dog may not have forever—but you can give Spot a forever’s worth of love in the time he has left. ❤️
If you’re interested in giving Spot a loving home, please reach out! 🐾

Xena!

Xena’s story is heartbreaking, but thankfully, she finally has people fighting for her. ❤️

Xena was recently surrendered to The Colony Animal Services (an AMAZING shelter, by the way), and her past is incredibly sad.

About 4 years ago, Xena suffered an injury that broke her ankle. Instead of getting the veterinary care she needed, she was left to heal on her own. Over time, her paw became permanently bent backward, and a large callous formed on her ankle as she learned to walk without using her paw. But here’s the good news: Xena still has feeling in her paw, and because of her age and the condition of her leg, surgery may be able to save it. The goal is to preserve her leg rather than amputate it. 🥹

The shelter has been incredible in advocating for Xena and making sure she gets the care she deserves. Today, Xena met Dr. Daniel and Dr. Lauren Anthony at Atlas Pet Vets, a family-owned veterinary hospital in Frisco. They recently created a charitable fund specifically to help shelters and rescues access specialty veterinary care.

The moment they met Xena, they went to work on a plan to get her started on treatment Monday. ❤️

Xena!

Xena was surrendered recently to the shelter (amazing shelter btw)! Xena’s past is very sad, 4 year ago she had an injury that broke her ankle. Left untreated once can only assume they grew guilty of watching her hobble as her paw was permanently bent backwards and a callous grew on her ankle where she learned to walk without her paw. The shelter has been exceptional in advocating for her care and the best route is surgical to preserve her leg, not amputate it. Due to her age, the fact she has feeling in her paw - surgically it can be done! Atlas Pet Vets in Frisco is family owned by husband and wife, Dr Daniel & Dr. Lauren Anthony. Recently they established a Charitable fund to help rescues and shelters obtain speciality vet care! Today they met Xena and immediately went to work on a game plan to start on Monday! If this story moves you, please donate to this cause and help Xena have the best life forward!

Follow Along on Rex’s Journey!

Rex (fka as Rhett at DAS) is under the best of care via Frisco Humane Society & Atlas Pet Vets! We have Rex’s CT scan scheduled for the 14th! We have barely enough funds to cover the cost of the scan at the moment, then we’ll need to raise more to help cover all the equipment, anesthesia, medications, and implants for a surgery after we discount what we can. We are thinking we will need to perform an orthopedic procedure on his left leg, depending on the CT scan findings, that will rotate the lower part of his leg into a more normal position relative to his elbow. He may also need additional soft tissue surgery afterwards to relieve tension and help position the tendons and supporting muscles on his left paw. In terms of his right leg, we are exploring options with prosthetics, and may attempt to 3D print him a prosthetic leg based on the CT scan measurements!

Good things happening!

Rex was supposed to die. At just 9 weeks old, he landed on the euthanasia list at Dallas Animal Services because of severe deformities affecting both of his front legs. His future looked impossible.
Instead, a rescue stepped in, and two local veterinarians chose to fight for him.
Now the real work begins.
Rex needs a CT scan to map exactly what’s happening inside his tiny legs. From there, his treatment could include custom splints, orthopedic surgery, prosthetics, mobility devices, rehabilitation—or a combination of all of them. His journey won’t be quick, and it certainly won’t be inexpensive.
The heartbreaking reality is that animals like Rex are euthanized every day, not because they can’t be saved, but because they require specialized medical care that costs thousands of dollars.
Rex isn’t the only one they’re helping.
They’re also treating Shark, a 6-week-old kitten recovering from a front leg amputation while fighting to save his remaining leg, and a 4-week-old kitten born with severe congenital deformities who is receiving around-the-clock bottle feeding, physical therapy, custom splints, and daily laser treatments.
These are the patients most shelters simply don’t have the resources to save.
To give animals like Rex a chance, they created the Atlas Pet Vets Medical Rescue Fund through the Veterinary Care Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The hospital donates and deeply discounts a tremendous amount of the medical care, while donations go directly toward helping cover the remaining treatment costs for rescue animals—not to the privately owned veterinary hospital.
Rex’s journey alone will require thousands of dollars in specialized care. Every CT scan, every surgery, every splint adjustment, every rehabilitation session brings him one step closer to a life where he can run, play, and simply be a puppy.
If enough people each give a little, we can accomplish something extraordinary together.
Whether you can donate $5, $25, or simply share his story, you’re helping rewrite the ending for a puppy who was only days away from never getting the chance to live it.
Sometimes all it takes to save a life is enough people deciding that one puppy is worth fighting for.
