Underscores, Laura Les, SOPHIE, Ginger Scott, Ayesha Erotica, Kim Petras, Osquinn, both Femtanyls... if you include nonbinary people, there's also Jane Remover, one of the frost children, and both of the Food House members. Probably many others that I don't know. Why?
Is it just because Sophie, Ayesha Erotica, and Laura Les were trailblazers? I feel like even then, three of the most influential hyperpop musicians being transfem is already pretty crazy. Why did all three of THEM succeed in this genre/choose it then?
And there aren't really a lot of transmasculine people who make hyperpop, which makes it even weirder. I can think of maybe two afab nonbinary people who make hyperpop, and zero trans men.
Is there a reason that this happened, or is it just a coincidence that so many of the original bubblegum bass musicians were trans, and it's just the downstream effects of that?
I've never heard anybody use a real name for them. I would assume that they just prefer the stage name, but aren't they transgender? So maybe if they were changing their name anyway, they might go all the way? Idk. Has she ever been referred to with a different name?
I want to apologize for the "what if Jane was homophobic" post that I made. MY only intention with that post was to start discussion. I asked "what if Jane Remover was a completely cishet nonbinary and they said this just because they were homophobic, would you still support her?" so that I could say "i would support her anyway." I posted that because I was genuinely curious for the answer from this community and the I thought it was an incitement question. I did not mean to sound like I anted her to be homophobic or offend her or anyone else. I apologize to Jane and the community for the insentive post. I did not mean to offend or be rude to or creep out anyone. At the time I didn't even think of that meaning and the thought of irl homophobic remover was nowhere in my mind. Sorry guys. I used to skip Fling a lot on Census Designated listens. Now it's my second favorite from the album, and my second most played Jane song. Similarly, 52 Blue Mondays used to be my least favorite on Teen Week. Now it's like top 5 Jane for me lol.
I've listened to both the new Kmoe album, and Jane's entire discography, and while I've found a bunch of songs I like (including several that I'd say I like better than Homeswitcher lol), there haven't been any that give me the same rush that Homeswitcher does. Especially the first half.
My pick would be Dog Food. It's honestly top 3 Gecs for me. The whole EP is so underrated. If we extend it to solo work, then it would have to be Worldwide / Hardcore Will Never Die. I feel like most fans don't even know that song exists lol.

I've noticed that both Sophie and GFOTY are kind of having a moment on TikTok right now, which has gotten me thinking. Oklou and Danny L. Harle have both released, up until now, the most popular albums of their careers. choke enough specifically is more popular (in purely stream count) than pretty much any PC Music project from while the label was active (if we don't count Charli and Caroline). Namasenda's new album looks like it'll probably be as popular, or more popular than Unlimited Ammo. And perhaps most literally for "PC Music Revival," they've released the new GRRL album (although I heard that that was just because it was in production back in 2023, and got delayed).
I've noticed that hyperpop in general seems to be making a bit of a comeback, between the aforementioned songs, some of Charli's older songs coming back, the new Underscores and Jane Remover albums, and a lot of new hyperpop stuff on places like soundcloud and bandlab. Thoughts?
