Which is the right time to use plunge? Before or After workouts?

I’ve been trying to get more consistent with cold plunging but kept getting confused on whether it’s better before or after workouts. Before training gave me a mental boost but sometimes made my legs feel stiff, while after workouts made more sense for soreness, though I started wondering if it could interfere with strength recovery. I read an article and the main takeaway was that timing depends on your goal.. immediate cold after heavy lifting might not be ideal, but after runs, conditioning, or high soreness days it can help more. It also made me realize cold plunging shouldn’t just be treated like a general recovery hack but something adjusted around the type of training you’re doing.

I was reading this article on hyaluronic acid vs polyglutamic acid for skin barrier support and it honestly made me rethink how I was using PGA. I used to just throw it on whenever like it was any other hydrating serum.

So I switched things up and actually ran a more structured routine instead of just layering stuff randomly. Cleanse, polyglutamic acid, moisturizer, then I capped it off with a recovery mask step using their HydroGlo Jelly Masks since the article kept stressing hydration plus occlusion working together instead of relying on one hero ingredient.

What surprised me was how different my skin looked the next morning. Not just plump, but way more chill overall. Less redness around my cheeks, texture looked smoother & that tight, kinda dull feeling I usually get later in the day just did not show up

Biggest thing was how long the hydration actually stuck around. Normally I get that mid day my skin is dry again moment, but this time it stayed comfortable way longer like my barrier was actually holding onto water instead of losing it fast

Still trying to figure out if PGA is just really good at surface level hydration or if it really shines more when you pair it with proper recovery steps like masking. Anyone else notice a bigger difference when PGA is used in a full barrier focused routine instead of just solo?
