switching majors between schools

hiii guys! i recently committed to hopkins for neuroscience (premed), but i was debating switching to an engineering major (deciding between electrical and mechanical.) but also, i'm not exactly sure. i really like neuro and i also can't take it as a minor. and double majoring between neuro and an engineering major sounds like a LOT of work. i want to have a decent back up plan in case i don't get into med school. maybe neuroscience w a comp sci minor? or an applied math and science minor? also, ik the deadline to switch majors is aug 28th, but can you switch even after you start classes?

jhu vs hmc

hey guys, sorry, not sure if this is the right forum. a couple weeks ago i posted a message on the jhu subreddit asking about which college i should go to out of ucla/cmu/ucsd/jhu/hmc, and because we were waiting on aid from hopkins we had to put down deposits for JHU and also HMC.

i thought i wanted to do medicine (i’ve also gotten a seat for mbbs at manchester in the UK). but now im leaning towards engineering (math has always been my fav subject, 4 years, immediate income). i’m just so confused. i have no idea what to pick! do you guys have any thoughts?

thank you all so much :)

edit: i ended up picking JHU, but this was a horribly difficult decision. perhaps in some other life i’d be a mudder. thank you all for your help in making my decision!

Hi everyone!

I’ve been privileged enough to get into a couple of amazing schools this cycle, and I’ve narrowed it down to JHU, UCLA, CMU and Harvey Mudd. For context, I am an international American citizen, and submitted my FAFSA really late, so I’m not sure about aid anywhere. If the costs were the same, which school should I go to?

I am planning to go to med school in the future, or pivot to IB/Finance if I don’t get in. I think I like medicine, and I’m about ~90% sure I want to be a doctor, but my favorite subjects in school were Math and Chemistry (and some Physics). I was strongly considering engineering. I didn’t like Bio, albeit I was good and my ECs mainly matched that so that’s what I applied to major in at these school. I’ll probably switch to Neuro though.

Anyways, all this being said, which school do you think I should go to and why?

I’m pretty extroverted, but don’t need a big social scene. I want a community of kids who are eager to study and work hard. I don’t want to compete too hard for clubs, and I want to be able to maintain a good GPA somewhat easily!

Thank you :)
