New to using bands

Hey! I’m looking to start a fitness journey, and I’m opting to solely use bands since I can use them at home, as I can’t afford a gym membership and I don’t have access to weights (other than 1,2 and 3kg dumbells)!

I’ve seen a set of 5 bands on Amazon which have varying degrees of resistance that I’m hoping I can build up to, and it has a lot of good reviews so I’m hopeful. And I feel like by spending money on new equipment I’ll make myself accountable to use it. I just don’t really know where to start with it all and what exercises I should be looking at.

For context, I’m a 21 year old woman, bmi 19, 50kg-ish and I worked out that I have a body fat percentage of 17.5%, so pretty much perfectly healthy/average. I work in retail and I usually walk to work so I usually get a high step count. I also enjoy doing yoga sometimes in my spare time, but I’m not currently as consistent with it as I’d like to be. I’m not looking to get super bulky or be any kind of bodybuilder, I just want to improve my strength and look noticeably more toned. Right now I feel like I just have a basic body, and I’d like to achieve a fitter, more toned version of it.

I’ve seen a few different workout ideas on TikTok targeting different areas. Is it better as a beginner to focus on individual muscle groups each day, or go for full body routines every time? How often should I be using the bands? Also, I’m going to Portugal in 4 weeks, realistically how much can I achieve by then (that’s not my motivation for starting, it’s just a timeline point!)?

The real issue with villains

Merely having villains on the street isn’t the issue, they’re needed to bring the dramas that are integral to the modern version of the soap genre. However, aside from the high quantity and high turnover of them, I think the real issue that people have with villainous characters on the street is that they’re not interesting characters at all.

Regardless of who they target, nobody is interested in these brand new characters we know nothing about other than that they’re bad news and that we’re not supposed to like them. And it’s exhausting when we’re getting a brand new bad guy what feels like every month with no real introduction. So far in the past year we’ve had Mal, Ross, Jodie, Megan, Becky, >!soon to be Tim’s cousin!< , etc. Nobody has any interest in their storylines because these people have appeared out of nowhere purely to act as plot devices. We know absolutely nothing about them, and they’ll leave as soon as they’ve served their purpose! The characters they import solely to play villains will never have lasting impact, and most of them won’t be remembered within a year.

It’s way more interesting when a character that’s had time to become embedded in the street becomes a villain/does something villainous. I’d much rather have a complex, multi-layered villain that has clear and recognisable mechanisms behind their actions based on things we’ve had time to learn and understand about the character, rather than have a new villain be cheaply imported for the sake of being just a villain. I like villains where you can fully understand what’s driven them to do what they do, not to sympathise with them but to make them more interesting and complex. I also think that’s a sign of investment into a character and not just a plot device. Think of Kit. He’s not necessarily an out-and-out villain, but he’s a self-serving character who does villainous things when it suits him. To me, it was clear that >!threatening Gary the other night in his attempt to get Sarah out of prison!< is part of a desperate attempt to be Sarah’s hero, which he believes would mean she’d love him and be with him forever, and that stems from the abandonment issues he has from being an adoptee. And I was able to come to this conclusion because I know these are canonical facts about Kit because he’s been invested into. It’s not a justification for his actions by any means, but it gives an insight into why he’s acting this way, which makes the storyline more interesting because it involves these multilayered characters that we know.

Obviously there are some exceptions to this. Most recently there’s been Mick&Lou and Theo. All of these characters were brought in to be short term villains, but they made an impact. But that’s because, even though they were only short term, they weren’t introduced immediately as villains. We were given the chance to watch them settle into the street and to learn about them, to therefore make their villainous turns more engaging because they had solid buildups. It’s no coincidence that they will be the most memorable of the recent villain introductions.

Sorry this is so long but I was having this conversation with a friend and I just have to know if other people agree with my take!

Virtual Queue Question

Hi all, just a quick one regarding the virtual queue system ahead of my upcoming trip. I know you have to have your ticket scanned to be able to actually join a queue, but does it matter which park your in?

We have 1-day-2-parks tickets, and we’re hoping to join 2 VQs throughout the day (one morning, one afternoon) if we’re fortunate enough.

But I was wondering, if I’m in the Adventure World park for example, would I be able to book a meet and greet in the Disney park?? Or would I have to be in the Disney park to be able to join a queue for an event there? I don’t imagine it being a problem considering both parks are on the same QR code, but it’s best to be sure!! Thanks

2 parks in 1 day tips?

Hi! First time poster here!

My friend and I are coming to DLP at the end of September this year. We will be doing both parks in our 1 day so wondered if anyone had any tips for our itinerary??

We’re tying Disney into our trip to Paris, so we will be staying in central Paris and heading to Disney for our middle day. We will be travelling to the parks most likely via taxi due to cost effectiveness and convenience for our circumstances, and we will be aiming to arrive for opening time!

We’re not overly big on rides, and we’re certainly not thrill seekers. We will also have a priority pass as my friend is a wheelchair user. The rides we’re looking to get on are Small World, Dumbo, Slinky Dog, Magic Carpets and Peter Pan (priority colour permitting). We’d also like to spend some time around Arendelle, but we’re not overly fussed about the Frozen ride.

We’d like to get a couple of meet and greets in if possible, but obviously that will depend on queues/virtual queues! We’re going to try for Princess Pavillion, and we’d also like to meet Woody and/or Jessie in Toy Story land, and we’d like to see Mickey too if we’re lucky!

Otherwise we’d like to factor in time for food (some snacks and probably one sit down meal (probably Mickey pizza)), and shopping of course (for ears, shoulder pals and magnets)! And we would also probably stop somewhere for at least and hour for my friend to charge her wheelchair - speaking of which, are there plug sockets around the park that we would be able to use for this??

Just wondered if anyone had any tips for doing all this in a logical order, or if it’s better to just see where the vibes take us on the day?? Thanks! :-)

Sarah and Gary

I think they slept together on the night of the murder. I’ve just been catching up on this week’s episodes, and they’re both acting so shifty and definitely hiding something. But I don’t think either of them were the murderer because it would just be too obvious. Sarah isn’t even in the lineup and they’re trying a bit too hard to put Gary in the frame this early on, which usually means it wasn’t him. So I think they had an affair before Sarah went back to the Platt’s house and got whacked.

Not to mention that Sarah seemed a bit too concerned about Gary when she was asking Kit about the questioning. It’s like she was seeing if she would have to come clean about an affair to be an alibi and save him from getting charged for murder 🤐
