Need an Aussie skincare/bodycare routine for dry sensitive skin + tanning + strawberry legs

Hi everyone! I recently moved to Australia and I have my wedding reception in about 6 months, so I really want to start taking better care of my skin now instead of trying random things right before the event.
I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the products available here, so I’d love recommendations from people with a similar skin type.

Face:
My face is dry, sensitive and quite rough/textured at the moment. I also have some darkness/pigmentation around my lips/mouth area. I’d love to make my skin look smoother, hydrated, brighter and more even-toned over the next 6 months.
Would love recommendations for:
Gentle cleanser
Moisturiser
Sunscreen that works well on dry skin
Hydrating/brightening serum
Something that may help with the darkness around my mouth
Face masks for dry skin/glow
Anything else that made a noticeable difference to your skin

Body:

My arms and legs have quite noticeable strawberry skin/bumps, and I’ve also accumulated a LOT of tanning. I’d really like to reduce the tan and get my arms and legs looking smoother and more even before the reception.
Please recommend:
Body wash for strawberry skin/tanning and lotion
Body scrub or exfoliant that actually works
Body lotion/serum for smoother and more even-toned skin
A really nice-smelling body wash for everyday use as well
Any products/routine that helped you with stubborn tanning

Lips:
My lips can also get dry and I’d love a tinted lip balm with a proper visible tint. I’m hoping to avoid wearing lipstick most days, so something moisturising but pigmented enough to make the lips look naturally done would be perfect.

Thank you!! I’d especially love to hear from anyone with dry + sensitive skin or strawberry legs who has actually seen results.

UQ intl students - visa timeline? Any grants/rejections lately?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student starting at UQ and I'm getting a bit anxious about the current visa situation.

I know Australia has put UQ in Priority 1 processing, but I'm curious about what the actual timelines have been recently.

If you've already received your visa (or even if it was refused or waiting), would you mind sharing:
Country, Course, Date of visa lodgement, Date of grant/refusal and Whether you had any S56 request

I've been hearing about quite a few refusals lately, so I'm trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect rather than what's written on the website.

Also, if anyone's visa was delayed, how flexible was UQ with extending your enrolment/start date? How many days or weeks of extension did they usually allow?

PS: I originally posted this on r/AusVisa, and a few people suggested I'd probably get more relevant responses here from current UQ students.

All the best for results though.

Thanks in advance!

DOB mismatch in documents before visa lodgement, will this cause rejection?

Country: India

Hi everyone,

I am about to lodge my visa application, but there is one issue with my father’s date of birth in his Indian documents.

His DOB is different across documents:

Birth Certificate: 28/11 Election Card/Voter ID: 28/11 Aadhaar Card: 27/11 PAN Card: 27/07

The correct DOB is the one mentioned in the birth certificate, and it also matches the Election/Voter ID card

I have already submitted a request to update/correct the Aadhaar card, but it may take around 30 days.

My visa lodgement is urgent, so I may not be able to wait until Aadhaar is corrected. My agent is saying that the Election/Voter ID card may not be considered a strong/valid document and that this DOB mismatch could lead to visa refusal/rejection.

Has anyone faced a similar issue where a parent’s DOB was different in Aadhaar/PAN but correct in the birth certificate? Would providing the birth certificate, voter ID, Aadhaar correction acknowledgement, and an explanation letter be enough?

I am not claiming anything based on my father’s age; he is only included as part of family/financial documents for the visa application.

Any advice or experience would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Can I apply for Australian student visa myself after getting CoE, unconditional offer & scholarship?

Hi everyone,

I already have my CoE, unconditional offer letter, and scholarship from my university. My agent is delaying my student visa process a lot and not replying properly.

I sent all documents on Wednesday. Today is Sunday and they still haven’t generated my HAP ID. Every time I ask, they say the website is not taking requests and keep saying I will do it by end of the day then no reply.

At this point I’m wondering if I should just apply for the visa myself instead of waiting for the agent.

Will applying myself make any negative impact on my visa outcome? Has anyone here switched from agent processing to self-application midway?

Would really appreciate honest advice and experiences.

Net Worth Certificate, Do I need to mention INR vs AUD

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding CA net worth certificates for an Australian student visa application.

I have two financial sponsors:

  1. My parents

  2. My in-laws

In my parents’ CA net worth certificate, the assets are shown in both INR and AUD equivalent. However, in my in-laws’ certificate, the CA has only mentioned the values in INR and not converted them into AUD.

Will this difference create any issue or possible rejection concern?

Should I ask the CA to remove the AUD conversion from my parents’ certificate as well and keep everything only in INR for consistency?

Or shall I add an extra sheet in In law's CA Certificate showing how much this means in AUD

Would appreciate guidance from anyone who has faced a similar situation or applied recently.

Thank you!

Is the SOP replaced by the GS Statement for Australian student visa now?

Hi everyone,

I’m a bit confused about the new Australian student visa process.

Earlier, most people used to prepare a long SOP/GTE statement explaining study plans, career goals, finances, ties to home country, etc. But now I keep hearing that Australia has replaced the SOP/GTE with the GS (Genuine Student) statement.

So does this mean the detailed long SOP is no longer needed for visa applications?

Are universities and agents still asking for separate SOPs, or is the GS questionnaire enough now for Subclass 500?

Would really appreciate hearing from recent applicants or anyone who lodged their visa recently.

And also an you please help me with GS Statment.

Thanks!

Agent saying not to pay through Flywire directly? Confused and stressed

I received my offer from The University of Queensland and now I need to pay my tuition fees. My agent is insisting that I pay through their forex partner, which is costing me around ₹22,000 extra.

I asked if I could just pay myself through Flywire directly (since UQ officially accepts Flywire), but my agent said if I do that:

  • they won’t be responsible,
  • UQ may reject the payment,
  • and the university could send the money back.

This sounds strange to me because Flywire is listed on the official UQ website.

Also, I already showed funds during the process, but the payment may come from a different family account. Is that normally okay?

Has anyone here paid UQ directly through Flywire without agent involvement?
Did UQ accept the payment smoothly?

Would really appreciate genuine experiences because I don’t want to lose money unnecessarily or mess up my enrolment.

Thanks!

Will I lose my UQ spot if I pay fees late? OSHC issue too

I’m an international student joining UQ and I’m a bit stressed about my enrolment situation.

My census date is still around 1 month away, but I may only be able to pay my tuition fees next week. Will paying a bit late cause me to lose my spot or enrolment?

Also, I already have my own OSHC, and I informed my agent about it, but she still selected the university OSHC option during the process. What am I supposed to do now? Can UQ remove the OSHC charge later if I provide proof of my existing policy?

Has anyone faced something similar with late fee payment or OSHC correction at UQ?

Thank you.
