Did you know you can save the game by saving letters in the Town Hall?

I learnt this when I was a kid and I had forgotten about it, but if you go to the Town Hall, talk to Pelly or Phyllis, and save letters, the game is automatically saved.

This DOES NOT prevent Resetti from scolding you if you turn your console off directly. It's just used as a "quick" save option if you're afraid of losing your progress, for example if the game crashes or you run out of battery. My game crashed a lot when I was a kid so I lost my progress many times. Saving and exiting all the time was exhausting, so when I learnt this "hack" it saved my life.

If you have no letters to save, just pick one and put it back, and it'll save it.

Was this a well known fact? Or am I explaining the obvious?

Man I love Bunk

That's it. That's the post. I'm on my first rewatch and I had forgotten how much he brightens every scene he's in. Just gotta love the Bunk.

Got back into the game after almost 20 years

This is by far the BEST of the whole series. NL and NH (I half-assedly played the latter) had features that made the game easier to play but WW feels like an actual village where animals live. Their personalities are well developed and designed, it actually feels as if they were living there before you arrived and you have to earn their respect and friendship.

In the newer releases the characters feel a bit flat, you ask me, like everybody acts extra friendly and the dialogues are too repetitive. In WW, even if sometimes they're too mean (which I like), you gotta work your relationship with them. I remember as a kid passing the time just going to villagers' houses and chatting nonstop. It was entertaining because they never run out of things to say.

I don't mind the "frustrating" parts. The fact that you have to exit to save, having to donate fish, bugs and fossils individually (with each individual explanation), Blathers not telling you what you donated already beforehand, etc. It taught us patience as kids, it won't do no harm to us now that we are used to short form content.

And of course, the music is unrivalled. Bet music in gaming history. So relaxing and fun at the same time, it really goes with the vibe of the game.

I'm glad I came back. Work has us busy all the time but this summer I'll have plenty of time to play so I'll try to play for 30-60 minutes every day.
