35 [M4F] Boston/MA/Online | What topic makes you completely lose track of time?

I’m 35, in Boston, and work in medicine, though I promise my personality extends beyond asking people about allergies.

One thing I genuinely enjoy is getting to know someone new slowly: discovering what she’s curious about, hearing the opinion she could defend for 30 minutes without preparation, and following a completely unnecessary tangent until it somehow becomes the best part of the conversation.

I tend to get along especially well with people who are curious, kind, thoughtful, funny, and willing to ask questions beyond the usual small talk.
My own rabbit holes include science, technology, travel, soccer, strange historical events, and whatever obscure subject has temporarily taken over my brain.
But I’m equally happy knowing absolutely nothing about a topic and listening to someone explain why she finds it fascinating.

So tell me yours.
Your obscure hobby.
Your oddly specific expertise.
The place you keep wanting to visit.
The historical event you know far too much about.
The harmless theory your friends are tired of hearing.

If you’re around Boston or elsewhere in Massachusetts, I’d also be happy to eventually turn a good conversation into coffee, a museum, a bookstore, a walk around the city, or checking out somewhere neither of us has been before.
No pressure and no rush. Just interested in meeting interesting people and seeing where a genuinely good conversation goes.

Opening question: You have to give a completely unprepared 30-minute TED Talk tonight. What’s your topic, and what’s the most debatable slide in the presentation?

34 [M4F] Worcester/MA/Online | Tell me about the topic that makes you forget to check the time

I’m a 35-year-old in Worcester, Massachusetts. My personality does extend beyond medicine, though I may still instinctively ask whether you have any drug allergies.

What I miss most is the slow, fascinating process of getting to know someone new: discovering how her mind works, hearing the opinion she knows is unpopular, and following a completely unnecessary tangent until it somehow becomes the best part of the conversation.

I’m drawn to women who are curious, kind, emotionally thoughtful, and a little playful. The type who might send an “Okay, hear me out…” message at 11 p.m. and then present a surprisingly persuasive argument about something wildly specific.

My own rabbit holes include science, technology, travel, soccer, strange historical events, and whatever niche subject has temporarily taken over my brain. But I’m just as happy listening to someone light up while explaining something I know absolutely nothing about.
Tell me about the thing that does that for you.

Your obscure hobby.
Your niche expertise.
The place you keep daydreaming about.
The theory your friends have banned you from discussing.
The oddly specific subject that instantly makes you more animated.

Enthusiasm is extremely attractive, and thoughtful follow-up questions are one of my love languages.
I’d especially enjoy meeting someone in Worcester or elsewhere in Massachusetts, but I’m open to a great online connection too. I’m not looking to rush anything—just hoping to find someone where the conversation feels natural, mutual, and a little difficult to end.

Opening question: You’re forced to give an unsolicited 30-minute TED Talk with zero preparation. What’s your topic, and what’s the most controversial slide in your presentation?

I’m a 34-year-old physician-scientist based in Boston, and I’ll be spending more time around Worcester. My personality does extend beyond medicine, though I may still instinctively ask whether you have any allergies.

34 [M4F] Boston/Online - Looking for a genuinely good conversation

34M in Boston. I’m a physician-scientist, and I’ve realized most of my conversations happen within the same work and family circles. I’d love to meet someone new for a genuinely platonic friendship and the kind of conversation you actually look forward to continuing.

I’m curious by nature, pretty easygoing, and enjoy people who get genuinely enthusiastic about things. My own rabbit holes include medicine, technology, travel, soccer, science, and whatever interesting topic happens to take over the conversation. I’m equally happy talking about something thoughtful or hearing an unnecessarily detailed explanation of the niche subject you know way too much about.
I’m not looking for flirting, dating, or sexual chat. Just good conversation, mutual curiosity, and hopefully a friendship that develops naturally without any pressure or expectations.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, send me a DM and tell me: what’s something you could happily talk about for hours if someone gave you the chance?

Bonus points if it’s something I know absolutely nothing about.

34 [M4F] Boston/Online - seeking platonic conversation

34M in Boston, physician-scientist, looking only for platonic friendship and good conversation outside my usual work-and-family circles. Curious, warm, and interested in medicine, technology, travel, soccer, and almost anything discussed with genuine enthusiasm.

No flirting, dating, or sexual chat. If you’d enjoy a thoughtful, low-pressure conversation, tell me what you could talk about for hours.

I made a visual Home Assistant floorplan entity editor

Hey everyone, I made a small web tool for building Home Assistant floorplan dashboards:

https://qaddodi.github.io/ha-floorplan-editor/

Heavily vibe coded, I admit (busy life it's tough to find time to actually code it manually, if it works it works).

It lets you visually add and position entities on a floorplan instead of manually editing SVG/CSS/YAML every time. You can upload your floorplan assets, then add lights, sensors, cameras, or generic entities, move them around, adjust hitboxes/glow areas, labels, icons, and preview how things will look.

For lights, it can create the masked “lights on” glow areas and supports dimmable/color-capable lights. For sensors, it can add icons/text for things like doors, windows, motion, leak, temperature, etc. I was able to get two images of "Light_on" and "Lights_off" PNGs, see attached of my apartment, and dim between them for lighting (I have a previous post about this). I generated the PNGs using chatGPT/gemini.

When you are done, it exports the three pieces needed for a Home Assistant floorplan card:

  • SVG
  • CSS
  • YAML card config

The idea is to make floorplan editing less painful, especially when you are adding or moving entities and do not want to hand-edit coordinates and masks manually.

Still rough, but it works for my use case.

Floor map is amazing

I used ha-floor map to create this. The outline of my apartment was generated using chatGPT and Gemini. Two outlines. One totally dark and another with all the lights lit. There is a smoothed circle around each light in the SVG that reveals the lit map based on brightness and it’s (EDIT: previously misspelled as tits) based on color of the light.
