Help! Burrow situation and a defiant 19 year old adopted daughter!
Hello! I’m seeking advice on a situation with my 19 year old adopted daughter Isla pictured above ;).
She had her first brumation with us this last winter where she slept peacefully in her dog house in our garage.
(That’s what she was used to prior to living with us so no problems there!) we planned on making her a real burrow outside so she doesn’t need her pup house anymore.
Soo after ample research we broke ground and my husband dug out a big spot! Lined it with cinder blocks, topped with 2x4s, added water proof roofing and piled all the dirt to make it a hill.
Then… yes more planted a native seed feed mix so she can graze on top.
But she doesn’t like it.
Will not go inside.
And has insisted on making her home right under our smoker… we have moved her and filled in this hole at least 5 times… I feel for the girl I want her to have her own chosen space but it’s not a safe or realistic, housing situation for her.
I’m not sure what to do….
Should I fill her burrow full of hay so it’s more cozy? Filll it with dirt so she can dig?
Start over from scratch?
I want her to have the best life and she’s been really stubborn about it!!!
She’s very very social she comes inside the house everyday to nap under a chest in the living room. She likes to be around us :).
Shes just a girl!

Two big cookies, one carrot cake. This place is beautiful! But the barista took one look at me and said here for the TOOGOODTOOGO. I definitely have more of the Oceanside look than Encinitas lol
