Small business owners: what actually causes your customers to pay invoices late?

Hi everyone! I’m a student researching payment challenges for a product project, and I’d love to hear from people who sell goods or services to other businesses—or handle invoicing and collections.

Could you share a recent time a business customer paid late or paid less than expected?

A few things I’m curious about:

  • What kind of business do you run?
  • What reason did the customer give for the delay or reduced payment?
  • What did you have to do to resolve it, and how long did that take?
  • What finally got you paid—or is it still unresolved?

A short story is plenty. No company names, exact amounts or sensitive details needed.

I’m trying to understand what happens in practice before deciding what to build. Happy to hear from accountants and finance teams too. Thanks!

Navigating MBA as an Introvert

Hey all, i am a month into my program and not really a party person - i dont drink/smoke and also not very active socially. I am very chalant with people i am close to or even the people in my study group. With every passing day i am finding it difficult to network or connect since people usually do that in the parties and whenever i tell someone i dont drink i sense some judgement. Any advice will be helpful

F 25 - Dating a Party Person as a Non Party one

Hey all, wanted to know your experiences dating a party person as you being the non party one. My BF loves to party and party hard like twice a month. I however dont drink or socialise much. The more we are together the more i am realising that we dont have many interests in common for ex i like to read/be in nature while he doesnt. We've been dating for 2 years now but i think these differences are getting to me.
