Am I being Sabotaged?

I’ve started my level 4 DevOps apprenticeship, after passing my level 3. Beforehand, my manager said out of the options given to me, DevOps would be the best career/salary wise, but also there isn’t a lot of room for it at our company.

I chose it anyway, and i’m slowly realising i’ll hit a ceiling here for plenty of reasons. Our company isn’t huge and i’m part of the 2 man internal IT department, but slowly I’ve realised (after speaking to my friends) my manager is kind of sabotaging me a little bit - whether its apprenticeship related or just job role related.

For example, we had a new CRM system that was in the talks with my manager and some higher ups that they had to keep quiet- and my manager did not tell me a single thing about it until the morning of it going live, and expected me to just be able to troubleshoot everything, although its not too dissimilar to our previous software, it was a nightmare morning for all the staff using it - and me being one of the main points of contact to troubleshoot.

Something similar happened when we changed our phone system, i hadn’t received any training on troubleshooting, on how to even use the system and i had to essentially learn to use the system and learn to troubleshoot it on the fly when that went live too. All while he had months of meetings with these providers beforehand, when it went live and still has meetings with them here and there.

I did bring these things up to my manager, but they said “what difference would it make if i told you earlier?” about the CRM system and for the phone system “yeah but it seems quite intuitive anyway”.

So i’m not sure where I really stand in this company, because a lot of other managers and team leaders were confused as to why I wasn’t trained on anything after telling them to bare with because really its as much of a learning experience for me as it is for them.

TLDR: feel like my manager is sabotaging me by keeping information and training from me.

Imposter syndrome

A bit of a weird one, but i was wondering if anyone else can relate to the feeling of like you don’t actually belong?? This might be due to the fact that I got this job by complete chance.

for context, i interviewed at my current company a few months before i started and didn’t get the job, i was told it was really close between me and the other person but they could only pick one.

few months go down the line and I forgot i even interviewed for this place and I wasn’t getting anything else since then, and my apprenticeship provider calls me to tell me that the company wants to know if i’m still available for hire and wanted to offer me a contract blah blah blah.

Fast forward a few weeks later, and i notice i’m the only apprentice and the previous hire wasn’t here anymore. Another few weeks later I gained the courage to ask my manager what happened to the last person. And he told me that the last guy was essentially watching nsfw content on his work laptop, and was let go - my manager was also able to show me the proof too haha.

But because these bizarre events, I can’t but feel like my place here is by complete chance and a bit of desperation from the company i work for.

TLDR: other candidate who got the job was caught being a gooner at work- then was fired, which led the company i work for to hire me.
