Polaroids I took today while changing my 1977 2103’s title (and slightly before and after) and of course a roadside repair pic with my dad because that’s a must.

One of a kind. The BDZ 18.01 (Or 8001 old classification) 2-8-2 was a reconstruction of the 2-8-0 17.01 (801 old classification). The 4 cylinder Wulff-Compound Mikado originally started its life as a 2-8-0 build in 1912.

In 1928 after a crash it was descided that rather than scrap it they'd let the engineers at the Sofia workshop have some fun. The boiler was changed with a larger one, superheater was added and due to the additional weight a trailing axle was also necessary. This gave birth to a truly unique machine for the Bulgarian railroads a 4 cylinder compound Mikado, which served until 1966. She still survives albeit in a sorry state.

For the past year I've been trying to build as accurate as possible 3D model of the BDZ Class 46.00 with the idea of the model serving as a basis for a 3D print. Here's my progress. It's the first and only thing I've modeled in Blender and I still have quite a lot to do.

Also I could really use some tips from the 3D modeling pros here. I know the topology isn't as clean as it could be but 3D prints (FDM) don't really care that much.

A large photo dump of historic BDZ Class 46 2-12-4T pictures. Enjoy the "Grandmother bear" in both her 2 and 3 cylinder variants.

Balkan wars/WWI era trenches near “Golyam Beglik” lake in Bulgaria. You can still see the remains of the sangars/machine gun nests. The stones used were taken from the near by medieval fortress ”Toshboazko kale” completely destroying what remained of it. (Last pic shows all that is left of it)

What’s the verdict? C2 4 years old. I’ve read that once it starts it’s a matter of time, how long do you think it will last?
