New Powerwall User! Couple questions…

Hi! So we just got our powerwall installed and commissioned this week. Learning as much as I can but have a few questions. As a background we are on a TOU plan with SDGE that has two super off peak periods. 10am-2pm and midnight to 6am.

Question #1 - why didn’t t our Powerwall charge to 100% overnight during the super off peak so we wouldn’t have to draw energy from the grid this am before our PV started production? Could it be because we are still in our learning phase?

Question #2 - why would the system do this? Our PV is producing enough power to power our house needs but it is using that to charge the battery and is pulling power from the grid using the non super off peak rate? Shouldn’t it just use PV to power the house and only use excess PV to charge plus grid starting at super peak at 10am? Again maybe learning mode thing?

Thanks for sharing your collective knowledge! I certainly appreciate it!

Tesla Wall Connector Issues

Hi. Got my Universal Wall Connector (V3) installed yesterday. I am able to connect to it fine on the app. It connects to my WiFi fine. But it keeps failing on trying to register. Therefore doesn’t get added to app list of my devices. Have tried different WiFi networks, have reset it, etc etc. Tried different phones, turned off cell, still nothing. I know it’s connected to the internet and I can see it talking to its servers (see attached photo)

Anyone have any suggestions??? Thanks

Mark

Need Vistiq Trim Piece Color (Dealer was no help whatsoever)

Only owned my Vistiq a week and someone already hit my rear bumper. They scratched the lower bumper trim piece. Anyone know what color this is and if there is a touch up paint? The dealership was absolutely no help whatsoever. They almost seemed like I was wasting their time... Very unfortunate.

Hot Tub Heater and Time of Use Electricity - Can I add a timer?

Hi everyone. I have a ~2015 Hot Springs Pulse Hot Tub. We are switching to a time of use electricity plan that charges different rates at different times of the day. Essentially our new low cost hours will be Midnight to 6am and 10am to 2pm on weekdays and Midnight to 2pm on weekends. I would really like to put our heater on a timer so that it only runs during this low periods of time to save energy. We keep our tub at 100 degrees and tend to use it mostly on weekends. Unfortunately our hot tub control panel has very little in the way of functions and certainly has nothing like this.

Is it ok to add a timer to the heater? I believe our tub has two circuits. One 30 amp for the jets and circulation pump and a 20 amp circuit for the heater. Can I put that 20 amp circuit on a timer? Any recommendations how to do that?

FYI we live in San Diego so really no big swings in temperature here.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dual EV Chargers in one garage...load management?

Hi. We currently have one EV charger in our garage for my wife's BMW. It is a 9.6kw charger on a 50amp circuit. I also had an EV (BMW ix). Up to now we have just been sharing the charger as she doesn't drive many miles but I want to add a separate charger on my side of the garage so we don't have to play musical cars. We still don't need to be charging at the same time as we both don't drive a ton of miles but just want it to be easier to deal with. We don't have enough capacity in the panel to add a new circuit so I wanted to know what my options were. I know there are some Level 2 chargers that talk to each other and load manage but that would mean I would have to buy 2 chargers. My new car (Cadillac Vistiq) has a built in 11.2kw charger.

With this setup I think I would just need a 2nd 60amp circuit (we have plenty of space in the panel itself) and a load management panel. If that is correct anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

New Vistiq Coming...Couple questions...

Hi everyone. Taking delivery of a new Vistiq Premium Luxury. Couple questions... I have been in the Carplay sphere now for years so losing that has me a little concerned but not enough to not buy the car... There aren't many good three row all electric options and the Vistiq definitely was the top for us...

  1. Does the Apple Music app in the Play store work well? Any issues accessing playlist etc.?
  2. How do I listen to the Podcasts in my Apple Podcast library? Do I need to use a different app? I prefer not to have to use bluetooth audio and open them on my phone.
  3. I assume for streaming the above you have to use the built-in cellular connectivity? Is it pretty robust? We live in San Diego so cell coverage is solid.
  4. I assume if you are somewhere with spotty cell phone coverage the backup would be switching to bluetooth audio and streaming from my downloaded songs on my phone?
  5. How does texting work? You just use the google assistant and it works through the phone like any other bluetooth connected phone?
  6. My previous car was a BMW iX and my wife drives a BMW i4. I assume that the BMW charger should work fine to charge this car? It has a CCS connector so should just plug right in. Correct?

Thanks! Excited to get the car. We got a crazy deal on it (18% under MSRP).
