Can someone help a Queenslander out with Thredbo plans next week

Hey everyone!

I’m doing a road trip down south next week and I’m feeling keen to check out Thredbo. The weather forecasts some snow on maybe Tuesday and Wednesday which would be pretty cool to see (no dramas if it doesn’t - just being in the alpine region is cool enough for me).

I gotta say though, driving in snowy conditions is something I have never done before. I am well out of my depth. I see a lot of talk online about potentially needing chains. I drive a 2021 Nissan navara with brand new mud tyres. Are chains something I need to concern myself with so early in the season? My only plan is to drive to Thredbo and walk around from there. Is there anything else I need to know regarding driving in icy conditions? I’ll take it slow.

Any advice in general is welcome. Thanks!

At what point do you decide a shed isn’t temporary?

Been on finasteride + minoxidil for almost two years now. First year and a half was awesome - all shedding completely stopped and hair was looking great. I stopped even thinking about my hair.

Fast forward to January 2026 (1.5 years into treatment), the shedding returned. Seemingly out of nowhere. I’m talking the kind of shedding I experienced before I was even taking fin + min). Visited my derm in February and he suggested it was temporary as the new hair I gained upon starting treatment may have reached the end of its life cycle.

It’s now mid May and the shedding hasn’t slowed down at all. This is month 5 and will be heading into month 6 come June. My hair is the worst it has ever looked (yes, even worse than before I started meds - scary times). At what point do I decide to let go of the idea that this is temporary? It’s difficult to wrap my head around how well I responded initially to all of a sudden losing all my gains plus some in a matter of months. 28M and NW 2-3 btw

Hey guys - got some moth/phaleanopsis orchids in my backyard tree (Brisbane, Australia - subtropical climate for those wondering). They are thriving on the tree and have roots going way up and down the trunk. One of them is about to flower and the other has a keiki.

I have seen some advice online to wait for the keiki to have multiple roots before cutting off, but this one seems to only be growing one long root. There’s no rush to get it cut off, just wondering if you guys would recommend waiting or take it off now? The plan is to also put it on the tree, but maybe I should put it in a pot to get a bit bigger before mounting? It’s my first ever keiki so just want to get it right.

I saw a video on TikTok showing the wind damaging a crane next to this high rise apartment complex and the description stated it was in Dubbo. I was sure that was incorrect and investigated further - it’s actually correct. This is Dubbo, NSW.

Dubbo is a regional town/city of about 40k inhabitants and its building high rise apartments? Is this an overall trend across regional communities in Australia or is there some sort of crazy demand in Dubbo itself that has resulted in this? These kind of developments you expect to see in the major cities and/or coast. It’s strange to see this in a standard country town.
