Potting on propogations

So I’ve been attempting propagation for years, and only had one successful pot on in all that time. As soon as the props move from lecah ball + spaghnum moss (wet roots) to traditional substrate (soil+wood chip+perlite) they rot and die. What process do I need to follow to get this right please?

Fish or no fish?

So our pond is slowly establishing, now got zero algae apart from the waterfall and really good water clarity which I’m super happy with. Thanks for the advice from the group. Have also fertilised the plants with a liquid feed.

Still debating whether to add fish, so seeking some advice;
- which fish would you recommend? Looking for low maintenance easy fish
- will they eat the plants? Are there any fish that won’t eat the plants?
- I desperately want frogs, and a bit more natural life. Got lots of snails and bloodworm and those sort of things going on. I think I would be able to protect any frogspawn from the fish with some netting. Has anyone tried this with any success? Or do you have to make a choice between frogs and fish?

Thanks in advance for the advice :)

Advice on pond Lilly

So we have our first flower which I’m really happy about, but the leaves are not looking great - any ideas why? It’s almost as though they have lots of tiny holes in them. No fish in the pond.

I’ve been trimming back the dead ones. Not sure if yellow constitutes dead or not?

Anything I can do to help it along?

New pond despair

Have gone from my dream pond to a very dark green mess… I know it’s a process, and the variables involved mean it’s likely just speculation as to how long it will take to clear. But I have two main questions;

  1. The hot weather has really evaporated the water level; if I dechlorinate tap water in a large water butt first, then pour it into the pond - will that negatively effect this starting process of the pond settling in?
  2. If I cheated and used a product like pond klear, will this ruin the starting process and simply be a short term fix that will come back to haunt me? Or as it’s a natural product, will it actually aid the process?

What didn’t help is that we had a faulty oase filter so had to run the pond just with two pumps for 2 weeks. So no filter and no UV clarifier in that time.

Really appreciate the advice!

Edit - in the UK, have had a heat wave the last 5 days (34C / 93F). Pond is in full sun. Photo not quite doing it justice, both rocks and water are turning very green. If the consensus is that’s normal then that makes me very happy! Also, UK tap water has very high chlorine levels compared to many other parts of the world. Many thanks!
