Help me fill a few days of my 11 day Taiwan itinerary!
Hey, I'm (30M) headed to Taiwan in the beginning of December for 11 days (2nd-13th). It's my first time there and second time in Asia. I have a rough sketch of an itinerary but I'm hoping could get some help with ideas to fill it out. I'm imagining my trip to be a combo of big city (I work in a relevant job and am very interested in checking out the urbanism and transit), nature (hiking/cycling), hot springs, and of course the food! I'm also very OK skipping total tourist traps for something a bit more relaxed. I loved Kyoto but dealing with the hordes was very unenjoyable and I'd like to avoid that here.
Days 1-4: Taipei - Maokong, Elephant Mountain, Yangmingshan, Beitou hot springs, Teapot Mountain, exploring the city's neighbourhoods and night markets (Ximen, Songshan, etc.). I feel pretty good about this segment.
Days 5-9: ??? I am imagining some combo of Kaohsiung, Tainan, Alishan/Eryanping Trail, Xitou Monster Village, Sun-Link-Sea. But this is where I need help figuring out what to prioritize and what is feasible.
Days 9-11: Back in Taipei - Wulai, Tamsui, then fly home on the last day. I could swap for a day trip to Yilan (Luodong, Yilan City, Jiaoxi) but it seems a bit similar to Wulai to do hot springs in Jiaoxi. Could also use help with this final stretch.
Thanks! If anyone will be around then hit me up!
I thought my ebay x370 was fried... until I put back in the corroded LR44 batteries it came with?
I bought an x370, and when getting it set up noticed that the LR44 batteries it came with were corroded. No problem, since I bought brand new 357 batteries. I swapped the batteries and went to turn it on, but got a low battery indicator. My first thought was, uh oh, I've been sold a unit with the famous capacitor issues (despite saying "tested and working" in the ebay description).
Just to be sure, I fished out the original batteries from the garbage bin, cleaned off the corrosion with some vinegar and popped them back in. Sure enough, the camera began to work 100% fine!
It turns out my "357 batteries" from the dollar store were actually alkaline, even though 357 batteries by definition are typically silver-oxide? I'm still confused as the voltage rating is the same for both batteries, so I don't fully understand why the fresh 357 batteries aren't working. aren't LR44 batteries alkaline too? has anyone else run into this? I'll have to test "real" silver-oxide 357 batteries next time and see if those work.
