Weird vibes @ Barclays

Not trying to start a debate or anything. I’m genuinely curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I go to maybe 2–3 concerts a year, and they’re honestly one of my favorite things to spend money on. After a rough week at work, having a concert to look forward to is something that keeps me going.

I spent about $450 on tickets for Joji at Barclays and brought a few friends. One of them had literally never been to a concert before, so I was really excited to take them.

I’ve seen Joji before from the pit, so I knew what to expect.

The lights go down, Pixelated Kisses starts, and I stand up.

Then I look around.

I swear I was one of maybe five people standing in the entire upper section.

I turned around and asked the girls behind me, “Is it okay if I stand?” They all looked at each other, laughed, and didn’t answer. My girlfriend literally had to say, “Just answer him.” They still didn’t, so I got embarrassed and sat back down.

The guy next to me leaned over and said he wanted to stand too, but felt weird because nobody else was. We stood up together, and within about 30 seconds the girls behind us tapped my girlfriend on the shoulder and asked if she could tell me to sit down.
So… I sat back down.

The weird part was the lower bowl looked like everyone was standing. It was just our section that felt like we were at an orchestra concert or something.

At one point I even told the guys in front of me, “If you guys want to stand, go for it. I don’t care.” All four of them stood up, looked around, realized nobody else was standing, and sat right back down.

Eventually I went to guest services to see if there was anywhere we could move where standing wouldn’t bother anyone. They couldn’t really help, so we ended up walking all the way to an empty nosebleed section instead. We brought the random guy next to us with us, and he said it completely saved his night. He also said it was one of the weirdest concert crowds he’d ever been part of.

Once we moved, we had an awesome time. Joji sounded incredible.

I just couldn’t believe we paid for really good seats and ended up leaving them because standing seemed to bother so many people. That completely caught me off guard at an arena concert.

For what it’s worth, I wasn’t drunk or being obnoxious. I had one beer, and Barclays has really steep seating, so if everyone’s standing, you can still see perfectly.

Has anyone else been to a Joji show like this? Or did I just end up in the most reserved section imaginable?

Solaris seat upgrades

I noticed curtains covering some sections in Newark. Did anyone who had seats there get upgraded?
