What's an artist you have to see when they come to your town?

Mine is Story of the Year and Yellowcard. Story of the Year has only gotten better with age and Yellowcard has always been my band since I was 14 (SOTY I discovered when I was 15). Plus, when Yellowcard broke up seemingly for good in 2017, I swore I'd never miss an opportunity to see them ever again.

Concerts aren't dying because they are "too expensive" but instead it's because fans aren't built the same as they used to be.

Nowadays folks just want to go to a stadium and film a clip for social media to show their friends they did something. The real scene is going to some undisclosed location and just gathering with the other local members of the scene and doing the concert for the love of the game.
Maybe Gen Z will be part of a revival of the Punk rock spirit of the 90's or some other generational block will discover that you don't need corporations selling tickets in order to have a band play music for a crowd.
I believe the current predicament with concert tickets and the bottle neck of the music industry stems from lack of boots on the ground mobility for artists to just grow organically.
Avery Yapps "why i stopped going to concerts" sandbox philosophy video talks about this in great detail. Zoomers for some reason forgot how to do pop ups.

TickPick Issues

Anyone deal with any issues with TickPick?

First of all, let me say that we always buy direct but weren’t able to snag them for this show. My daughter begged for tickets to a concert for her 16th birthday so we bought them on TickPick and the tickets were pretty quickly transferred to my account. Then they disappeared and Ticketmaster said that the original seller violated terms.

I reached out to Tick Pick and they haven’t been helpful. My daughter’s birthday was in June and the concert is in October but I’m wondering if Tick Pick is going to leave us holding the bag?

Early entry VIP package

We're going to a rock/metal concert in less than two weeks, and we currently have General Admission tickets. We've been wondering whether it's worth selling them and buying Early Entry VIP tickets instead so we can get closer to the stage.

These VIP tickets don't include a Meet & Greet (the band isn't offering one on this tour). As far as I know, they only include early entry and a few exclusive merch items.

My question is: do you think these tickets are actually worth it?

VIP ticket holders would be let in at 4:30 p.m., while everyone else enters at 5:00 p.m. There are also two opening bands before the headliner we're going to see, who won't be on until around 9:00 p.m.

That means we'd basically have to hold our spots at the front for several hours without leaving for the bar, the restroom, or anything else, otherwise we'd probably lose our places.

So I'm wondering if it really makes sense. Or would it be better to stick with our current GA tickets and just take advantage of the fact that people will naturally leave their spots throughout the evening, giving us a chance to move closer to the stage?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

How do you meet artists after a show?

Im lucky enough to have gotten a picture with lana del rey, but I know of some people that literally always meet their favourite artists either out somewhere in the town that a concert of theirs just took place/ after the concert or at the actual venue.

Anyone in here have any methods or tips to share??

I was at Bad Bunny in Paris last night, ask me anything.

This concert was set up differently than most I have attended. Happy to answer any questions you may have to make sure you maximize your experience tonight!

Buckcherry

Saw Buckcherry tonight for the first time. I always liked them but it wasn’t a band I got into. Tonight they played a small outside venue in central NY. Awesome show! Small venue, big energy! Josh Todd is an absolute maniac! Fucking rockstar! He gave a great performance! Definitely see them if you get a chance

What was your first concert like and who did you go see ?

My first concert ever was Marc Anthony in 2023. I made a sign and actually ended up meeting him after the show , where he gave me a hug and danced with me. I had been saving for nearly a year and had always wanted to go to a concert but hadn’t ever had the opportunity to. For me that concert was super special because I stepped out of my comfort zone (I never leave the house 🤣 and don’t interact socially very much) and ultimately stepped away with a beautiful experience. Wondering how other peoples first concerts went and any fun stories you have haha.

Didn't feel present

So just a few hours ago I saw The Prodigy live in Hungary at Sopronseft. Sure I was yelling the lyrics of Thunder at the top of my lungs, threw myself into the mosh pit, laughed and joked around with my friend, cheered and clapped all the way but somehow I still don't feel like I was really present.

I was focusing way too much on "everyone is jumping around. Should I? Am I doing it wierd? Am I waving my arms wierdly? Can I hear clear enough? This guy keeps running into my arm. etc." And I could barely focus on the music itself.

Like I didn't have that euphorical "omg this is goose bumbs" feeling at all. Some of my friends said that this was one of the best concerts they've ever been on, but I didn't feel that.

Still, it was THE FUCKING PRODIGY, a bucket list band for me. And I do remember snippets, most of it is gone.

I know about concert amnesia, but most people say that they don't remember the details, just how it felt. But to me it's kind of gray... it was good and I did have fun but I wasn’t paying enough attention to them, even though I reminded myself multiple times throughout the concert to listen and don't end up like other times. Still did. Maybe became even more self-concious because of it.

Still it was totally worth it and this was a truly great experience but I wish I could remember at least the feeling, if I felt it at all.

Tip the merch guy?

After spending say, $100 at the merch table at a show, do yall feel inclined to tip the merch dude? Honest answers only. Personally I think if you’re spending over $50 a few bucks shouldn’t hurt you especially if it’s a band you truly support.

Can't transfer a ticket from Ticketmaster to Viagogo

Hi,

I'm selling a ticket on Viagogo and someone bought it. I transferred it from Ticketmaster but it stays in pending. Like the buyer has not accepted the ticket.

I'm not sure how it's working, but now Viagogo says something is wrong with my ticket, I'm transferring it,what more can I do and there is no one to contact to ask what's wrong.

My ticket is in a space between me and the buyer, doesn't move.

Has anyone experienced something similar ? And give advice how to sell my ticket successfully...

Thanks!

Can I wear this to T Mobile Arena in Vegas for a concert?

Hey guys— so I’m going to a concert and am eyeing this cute bralette to wear with my outfit. I however know some venues have strict dress code, wondering if this would be categorized as a bikini top and if I could get by security in this?

Additionally— my friend said I probably need to wear a T shirt overtop and then take it off inside, but wouldn’t security just flag me once they spot me?

I did try to check the arena’s website but the dress code wasn’t very detailed from what I saw.

Edit: Just to clarify I’m more so asking about how strict or loose security are at T Mobile Arena in Vegas

Worst concert you attended?

July 12, 1991,

Poplar Creek concert pavilion

outside of Chicago

The Sisters of Mercy and

Public Enemy

Absolute disaster.

This came up in anotber subreddit so I thought Id ask here. I was excited to see both bands, but the college student Goth kids clashed with the inner city Public Enemy fans, and promoters pulled out show after show, leaving the tour to die after only a few shows.

The drunk lady

Lucky me last night I was at a show and got to stand next to her.

She was mostly fine other than asking me stupid questions like “are you a fan of the band?” Uh, what? No I hate them. 😂 But the one drunk behavior she did that I hate is turn around constantly to look at me, or look at the people behind her instead of toward the stage. All night. I have a non drinker friend who does this too so I guess it’s not exclusive to drink people but…stop trying to make eye contact with me we’re not talking while the band is playing! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Has anyone else seen Willie Nelson on his last tour?

I (completely by accident) saw Willie Nelson perform for Outlaw Fest and am amazed at how incredible that performance was. He outshined everyone else at the festival, when he took the stage it was clear we were witnessing a true legacy act. It was a treat to witness.

I highly recommend catching this tour if it goes through your town. I’m not even a big country fan and was blown away by his performance. There is a very “final” feeling to it, I guessed it was a farewell tour just from watching the show. It was beautiful, the mood reminded me of the last album Johnny Cash released before he died. He sang a lot about death, but in a way that celebrated his life and legacy. I really can’t express enough how beautiful it was. At the end of the show he got a musical send off from his band visibly filled with so much love and respect and I was just left speechless. That man truly is a legend and i’m so glad I got a chance to see him.

Has anyone else had a chance to see him on this tour? What do y’all think, did you get the same farewell vibes from him on the other stops?

Taking my little girl to her first show

It's kind of unbelievable for me at this point, I get to take my little girl.

I also get to go with my older brother.

Favourite spot to watch the show?

Hi, im wondering others experiences, what are your favourite places to watch/experience the show?

For small concerts I like to be in the middle, not directly in the front but near it. But for festivals I have no idea- especially because pits and crowd surfers always seem to be in the middle.

So, im just wondering why you like or dislike certain spots! (No this is not just a "do you sit or stand" question i swear 😭)

Update: thank you guys so much! I think ill try and do at the front, to the sides (im short and dont like moshpits🤣)

Missed Connection - Metallica in Cardiff

This is a shot in the dark, but I met a guy in the merch line at the Metallica concert in Cardiff last week. We had a great conversation and I immediately regretted not getting his name and number as I walked away, but it was chaos. He has been on my mind since. He is 38, has a 5yo son, and works for Swansea City FC. Anyone know someone who would fit that profile?
