DJ Casey Catsem HERE, to tell ALL you COOL CATS and kittens HEADING to TODAY'S Movie Tuesday selection of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" a MUSICAL story about The Candy Man!

SO there were a COUPLE of BORING guys who recorded the THEME SONG for the movie. And THEN they LISTENED to it and WERE like “oh no, this is terrible, we might not be nominated for an Oscar, this is so bad!”

SPEAKING of Oscar, at the SAME time a real COOL CAT named Sammy was having some CONTRACT ISSUES with his record label. And this guy MIKE at the label comes to Sammy and says “hey pal, my band, which is named after myself, did a song, and can you sing on it?"

AND Sammy was a COOL CAT, he hung out in VEGAS with some other guys called the RAT PACK, but somehow no cats or rats are ACTUALLY involved. And he was real FAMOUS and lots of really cool PEOPLE liked him and thought he was COOL, so Sammy said “no, it would ruin my career."

BUT since Mike was his BOSS, Sammy VERY reluctantly went in the STUDIO and recorded his part twice, VERY QUICKLY. Then he LEFT to go PERFORM for troops in a place called VIETNAM. And WHEN he left he told MIKE to “flush the song in the toilet."

Well, he DIDN'T do THAT, and it became Sammy's BIGGEST hit EVER! He STILL didn't LIKE the song, BUT it made him a LOT of MONEY, so at least that was GOOD.

Now your human is trapped! You can also sling your paw over their arm as well for extra security!

I trapped my Mama on the couch this afternoon like this. Bonus, she was mumbling something about her hip aching and she was trying to move her leg without disturbing me! Hee hee hee!

This strategic position also allows for excellent ear, cheek, and chin rubs! Mama finally caved and gave me a double face massage! Oh, friends, it was delightful!

While Casey is off boogieing I have some facts about this legendary soundtrack!

First, five of the songs on it were number one hits! (A Fifth of Beethoven, If I Can't Have You, Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Jive Talkin')

Second, it is the only disco album to win Album of the Year at the Grammys!

Third, this album stayed on top of the charts for 24 weeks! Half a year! No wonder my Dad says everyone was tired of disco after a while.

And my Mama would like to say this...wait, what does this say? Something about how da song Baker Street was robbed from being number one by Andy Gibb. [rereads notes, then throws in air and starts dancing]

(Baker Street had to sit at the number two spot for SIX WEEKS behind Shadow Dancing and the payola power of RSO Records and Robert Stigwood...but that is a story for another day!)

Pixel here, mixed-up tuxedo. Apparently I did not read the title of today's movie correctly. Also, my Mama says this is a Trek house, whatever that means.
