Overdyeing my old 45RPMs with botanic dye

I'm been messing around with botanic dyes again. This time I took a pair of my old 45rpm slim straight jeans, and overdyed them in a vat of black cutch extract. On white fabric, this gives a rich coffee color. These jeans were vintage faded, kinda light-blue with a white-ish weft (see 2nd pic. for original color), so I got a more muddy-brown effect (which is what I was aiming for). I need to darn some wear and holes near the leg openings, then these will be good for another five years at least. (Belt is from the wonderful Mr. Lentz).

Find a better place for this sign?

This is the sign on the reception desk of our vet. I have a spidey sense that there's a better location for it somewhere out there. Maybe some sort of public building? Maybe in the US?? Any ideas?

Best Japanese sweatshirt for western folks?

Hey all, I can almost sniff fall on the air, and my thoughts are turning to soft, hefty sweatshirts from Japan. But I've never had much luck with Japanese sweatshirts, as the sizing often seems a bit awkward for my western body. I'm a typical 55-year old bloke, 5'8", 165lbs, with a bit of a belly and fairly broad shoulders (I know, I know: get in line).

I love the look of the UES sweatshirts, but it looks like the size 4 would be too slim in the torso, whereas the size 5 would be too broad in the shoulders and long in the arms.

So, any recommendations for nice Japanese sweatshirts that work well for the US body shape?

Thanks all!!

TCB FAT CAT RECORDS S40s JACKET, 42, BRAND NEW!!!

Pics and measurements in link above.

"TCB Fat Cats Records Faded S40's Jacket in a masterfully distressed indigo denim that captures the look of years of heavy wear through a specialized manual and skilled process. As part of TCB's "Fat Cats Records" series, this jacket is modeled after real-life fades achieved by TCB founder Hajime Inoue, and meticulously recreated by skilled artisans at Bito Co. in Kojima. The process involves hand-scraping, grinding, and multiple washes with calculated ratios of pumice stones to ensure that the whiskers and honeycombs look natural across all sizes. The color on these are truly amazing as well, with a remarkable gradient of indigo and turquoise across each piece."

An amazing piece, super-rare and sold out everywhere. Yours for $200 with free US shipping if you buy direct here before any bids are placed on ebay.

Overdyeing Graph Zero jeans with cutch

First of all, thank so much to everyone who guided me in my first overdyeing project. You're all amazing! The first two images show the jeans pre-cutch. The jeans are 15oz, very slubby and textured. The warp was dyed with pure indigo, and the weft is white.

I wanted to get a more muddy-brown effect, so used 1. cutch dye bath; 2. iron bath; 3. back to the cutch dye bath. The rest of the images show the results -- maybe not as radical a change as I'd hoped for, but I'm still really happy with them. I may do another round in the cutch dye bath, but am hanging off for now.

Denim in Stockholm, Copenhagen, or other northern European cities?

https://preview.redd.it/u3c68bfadhfh1.jpg?width=1799&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=822e6ee4f8755db36cc7c2d7f515e5b46e7c20f9

An odd set of work-related circumstances have meant that my wife and I will be in mainland Europe with a week to spare and nothing to do but have fun in early November. We're hoping to use the time to hang out in a really lovely city that has a good cafe and museum / art culture, as well as some good denim / heritage stores or even denim-related events. We're mainly considering Berlin, Stockholm, or Copenhagen (we like dark and cold). I know Berlin has DC4. But I know nothing about the denim scene in Stockholm or Copenhagen. Can anyone help? Also any other really great cities we might consider? (Not interested in France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands or the UK this time). Thanks for any ideas or suggestions!

Overdyeing jeans with cutch?

I have some dark blue 100% cotton jeans (with a white weft) that I'd like to overdye with cutch. I'm going to buy the botanic powder from Shepherds I think, but I've never tried overdyeing. Can anyone talk me through the process? For example, do I still need to mordant the jeans, or can I go straight to cutch? And what percentage weight of fabric should I use to achieve the sort of brown I'm seeing in the pic? Thank you all!!

Heritage clothing websites, podcasts etc.?

One of the things I most like about this hobby is reading / watching / listening to stuff about heritage wear. Can anyone recommend any good websites, youtube channels, or podcasts? These are the ones I know about:

Websites / social media
Reddit (obvs)
Facebook raw denim page
Superfuture
Denimhunters*
Japanalogue *
Stridewise
Heddels

Podcasts
Iron Cast
Denimhunters

Youtube
Cameron O
Iron Snail

I'm most interested in good podcasts and websites with interviews, reviews, etc. like denimhunters and Japanalogue (my two personal favorites).

Thanks all!
Julian
