Chinese AI models

Heard a lot of hair on fire reporting of late about these cheaper Chinese AI models being a threat to the US built. Just throwing this out there. Just go with the fortune 1000. What company is going to use a Chinese AI model no matter how cheap it considering there is always the chance there is some back door security issue. China is communist and everything is monitored. There is no CIO that is going to allow this. Thoughts?

Renting out a data center

You hear a lot lately the business of renting out a data center. On CNBC they make it seem like you just push a button and all of sudden the company renting the data center has full use of it. Like renting and moving into a house. That easy. This seems ridiculous but I’m no AI data center expert. There is this constant hair on fire reporting on the need for more compute, more compute, more compute!!!! That may the case to a certain extent but it seems like renting a data center is far more complex.

For any that know what is the process of this? Why would a company like Google do this with their Gemini buildout

Handheld market

It seems that most handhelds will operate with Gemini as the default AI model. You got android with is obviously a Google product so it makes sense they would default to Gemini and the iPhone deal. Now that doesn’t mean you cant use other models but it would seem to build a private and secure AI personal assistant it would be under Gemini. So they put it out there for free and get the user used to it for a while then a monthly charge comes into play. This is how you start to see monetization in the hand held market. They will not be able to charge for tokens like they do in the enterprise space. If this is the evolution then Google is best positioned.

And this is not saying Gemini is better. Thats not the point and it doesn’t matter.

Thoughts?

GOOG (Gemini) vs Anthropic and Open AI when IPO

I don’t quite understand why there is so much hype around Open AI and Anthropic going public outside of they are huge, Tech and AI when compared to what Google has going on already with Gemini. It’s seems like Google is way ahead on a lot of this and has tons of cash. I know the stock just had a good run up but is it a good long term growth hold at the current price. I mean Google seems to have their hand in so much and is just making a ton of cash.

Is it just the next best thing and media is just blowing it up with Open AI and Anthropic? Confused here and seeking input from those who see the picture differently.

Thanks

Clean your inlet filter!

Didn’t know I had an inlet filter. Was wondering why the motor was making some crazy loud noise and water flow limited. Found a post here the told me to clean that filter. Cannot believe I didn’t burn the motor up. Thank you fellow posters
