Affordable self-cleaning litter box options?
Hello everyone! I just joined this group, as it seemed like the best place to ask about an issue that I’ve recently been having.
So I live in a small space with two 2 year old indoor cats, both of which are my very beloved creatures (but I’m sure you all understand that haha!). Their litter box has been an issue for me since I got them, as I have to keep my cats in my bedroom overnight. No matter how much I cleaned it, the smell was the usual litter stink and just not all that pleasant.
For the past few months I had moved their litter box out onto the deck/catio connected to my room, as the screen door already has a huge hole that they ripped in it. This allowed for them to access the litter box freely, brought fresh air into my room, and overall created a nice environment.
Well the newest issue started tonight, earwigs. It did not occur to me until tonight that leaving this entry way available would unleash a hellish amount of earwigs into my bedroom. I just spent the last hour deep cleaning everything, satisfied that I have rid myself of those little monsters.
So my question is, what are some reasonably priced self cleaning litter boxes? From what I’ve been told these are a lot stronger on smells, and make cleaning a lot easier. I also recently started working a full time job, so this quicker cleaning method would make things far more manageable.
Any brand recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I will be browsing for them at my local pet stores tomorrow, and I want to know what I should be keeping an eye out for. My budget can’t go much higher than $500 CAD, as I have just finished my second year of university and can’t afford much else haha!
