Cats left eye looks off possibly?

I noticed my cats left eye started looking a bit weird and very slightly sunken in a few days ago. I don't know if it is or o If I'm seeing things. My roommate says they don't see it. Do I need to take her to a vet or is she ok? It's not easily noticeable anymore but she seems to have dark stuff in the inner corner of her eye now and it seems more wet than han the other eye. The images are from a few days after I first noticed it.

Cat is chronically looking for food - please help

Long read but please help. I rescued a cat, now about 10 months old, in January. His name is Kitty. He had a bad rectal prolapse so I wanted to help him, and I did but I've been having a lot of issues with him and at this point I don't know what to do. He will not stop looking for food. He is constantly, constantly looking for food. I'm going to add a lot of context here and if you know anything about cats, you'll understand why. You all need to know the full story and possible reasons for this behavior.

Let's start with daily routine. I work a 9-5. I already have 3 adult cats that he doesn't get along with, so I have to separate them. Kitty stays in the second bedroom all day until I get home from work. When I get home, I greet all of them, including Kitty. Then I feed them. Had to get kitty a puzzle feeder because he inhales his food. After that, I bring Kitty to my bedroom, play with him for about 30 minutes or a little more, then I go play with my other cats. THEN, I put my 3 cats in my bedroom or in Kitty's room (so they can be around his scent), so I can let Kitty out into the apartment for 1-2 hrs before I let my other cats back out and I return Kitty to his room until nighttime so I can do whatever it is I need to do, usually cook dinner, prepare for the next day, and spend a little more time with my adult cats. Then I feed them their last meal, I bring Kitty into my bedroom and play with him and we fall asleep together. Morning comes and he's back in his room.

Main issue: Kitty and food. During those 1-2 hours that I have him out in the apartment, all he does is look for food, even when I try to distract him with playtime and catnip. Like, as soon as I let him out, his search begins, even though he just ate an hour ago. I even bought a cat tree that goes all the way to the ceiling, it stays in place with tension. I play with him, make him climb that shit over and over, I run around with the cat toys to make him chase them. Eventually though, he gets bored. And he continues looking for food. He gets on the counter over and over, and I can't ignore him because he will eat anything. He's eaten the string off his cat toys, he's eaten my hairband, and one time I even caught him chewing on my wicker basket and eating some bits. Obviously when I could stop it, I did, but I learned the hard way that I cannot leave anything string around him without supervision. But I'm not perfect, once in a while I leave something on the counter, like one time I fed my cats after work. Their wet food comes in a little plastic bag. I forgot to throw it away, and when it was Kitty's turn to come out, he started eating the bag. Not lick the food that's on it. No. Eat the bag. I think he's just so desperate for the food, he'll eat anything the food touches. He's not overweight, he's actually at a healthy weight for his age (according to vet), 8 lbs and some change.

More context about his surgeries: His rectal prolapse was fixed with a purse string suture at the end of January. A week later, rectum came out again. Vet performed the same procedure. Got constipation meds, special diet. Couple months maybe passed, and his rectum came out again. This time I went to a different vet, who did a colopexy. Essentially permanently attaching his colon to his abdominal wall. Maybe a month passed, and a week ago his rectum came out again. I broke down honestly. I still took him to the vet the next morning, and to my surprise, his rectum went back in on its own. So I guess that was a good thing. Hasn't come out since and he's back on the laxative stuff. Oh and he was neutered when he had his colopexy done.

To make things worse, I'm trying to get my cats and him friendly with each other but the gap underneath his door and the floor is so big that they are able to look at each other and even paw at each other with ease, and they have attacked each other this way. I had to find something to put under there so they'd stop. I'm trying man. I did the whole method where you wanna feed the cats at the same time, with the door separating them so they'll create that positive association and slowly increase exposure. I successfully did it when I took in my 3rd cat, but I'm not really seeing any progress with this one. And since Kitty sometimes squeezes his way out of his room when I'm opening the door, there have been times where he just sprints towards my cats and they start fighting bad. It's been about 10 times or so that they've gotten into scuffles or almost scuffles. Some were my fault (I tried exposing them to each other too soon), but sometimes Kitty just escapes me and he books it.

What has the vet said: I have asked the vet how much he should be eating a day, and the vet said about 1 ½ cans of wet food. Which I still feel is too little. So I feed him 1 ¾ cans of wet food divided into morning and night. When I get home from work, I use an old protein powder scoop and fill it up about halfway with dry food (hills senior diet, vet recommended since it helps with digestion) which is what I put into his puzzle feeder. Later, I'll give him about a tablespoon of pumpkin puree, which the vet said I could do to make him feel more full. My guy is still looking for food and will still eat string if he had the opportunity to.

The vet hasn't diagnosed him with anything, yet. Still don't know what to believe in terms of how much should I be feeding him, especially with his condition, which, is undiagnosed so I don't even know what his fucking condition is, except maybe constipation. I tried feeding him more once, like I filled his bowl with dry food in between his wet food meals, but it just didn't feel right to me because of his butt/digestive issues. So I stopped.

Honestly I'm just really stressed out about this. I just need some advice - have any of y'all had a cat that is chronically looking for food? What do I do, what should I stop doing, what should I continue to do.

P.S. I have been trying to find Kitty a home. I never meant to keep him, I just wanted to help him. I'm well aware that keeping him in one room all day is contributing to his stress, which is why I do my best to play with him when I get home but it's just not enough. I'm posting on cat groups on Facebook, I've asked friends and family, I've called an animal shelter down here but they asked where I found him, and then told me "Oh sorry, we don't take in animals from your area." I live in the Rio Grande Valley, which has a higher rate of poverty than the national average I believe, so resources are pretty limited and some people treat animals like shit. I don't want to abandon him or leave him in a rich neighborhood because homeboy will eat everything he finds, I just know it. Pretty sure he'll die from it.

Weird little orange/yellow spots near my cat's ears? Anyone seen this before?

Hey guys, I just noticed these tiny orange or yellowish dots and crusts right in that naturally thin fur area between his eyes and ears. He is 2 years old, completely indoors, and he doesn’t seem bothered by it at all. No scratching or shaking his head. We actually asked our vet about it and she thought it might just be from hanging out in the sun, but I couldn't find any similar photos online. Has anyone else’s cat had these exact orange spots in this specific area? Would love to know what it ended up being. Thanks!

Cat accidentally stepped in then licked off his paw Terro liquid ant bait. Is it emergency vet time?

Before anyone says anything, we have a problem with ants in the warmer months and we use this bait as we've found it the most effective. The bait is kept in its container, im guessing this one got bumped and leaked a bit.

Affordable self-cleaning litter box options?

Hello everyone! I just joined this group, as it seemed like the best place to ask about an issue that I’ve recently been having.

So I live in a small space with two 2 year old indoor cats, both of which are my very beloved creatures (but I’m sure you all understand that haha!). Their litter box has been an issue for me since I got them, as I have to keep my cats in my bedroom overnight. No matter how much I cleaned it, the smell was the usual litter stink and just not all that pleasant.

For the past few months I had moved their litter box out onto the deck/catio connected to my room, as the screen door already has a huge hole that they ripped in it. This allowed for them to access the litter box freely, brought fresh air into my room, and overall created a nice environment.

Well the newest issue started tonight, earwigs. It did not occur to me until tonight that leaving this entry way available would unleash a hellish amount of earwigs into my bedroom. I just spent the last hour deep cleaning everything, satisfied that I have rid myself of those little monsters.

So my question is, what are some reasonably priced self cleaning litter boxes? From what I’ve been told these are a lot stronger on smells, and make cleaning a lot easier. I also recently started working a full time job, so this quicker cleaning method would make things far more manageable.

Any brand recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I will be browsing for them at my local pet stores tomorrow, and I want to know what I should be keeping an eye out for. My budget can’t go much higher than $500 CAD, as I have just finished my second year of university and can’t afford much else haha!

Thank you so much in advance :)

Kitty tummy troubles

Hi guys! I adopted 3 month old girls about a week ago. One of them, Willow, has been having consistent diarrhea. I took her into the clinic at the shelter I adopted her from and they said it was just stress and gave me some probiotics for her.

Now, a week later, she’s still going. She’s eating and drinking just fine, playing with me and doesn’t seem lethargic. She’s been curious as ever. I have a vet appointment scheduled on the 15th (the soonest I was able to get.) The nearest emergency vet is an hour drive, and she hated riding in the car when i took her into the clinic.

I don’t want to put her through that stress if I don’t have to. Should I just keep monitoring her for any changes?

Rash on eye/nose

Last year my cat had a similar rash on her nose but it went away. We brought her to the vet and they didn’t exactly diagnose her with anything but provided antibiotics.

I just noticed she was getting a similar rash and then noticed that it was on her eye this time! Going to schedule an appointment with the vet as soon as they open Monday (it’s the weekend).

Does anyone know what this is or had a similar experience with their cat? Please let me know if anything helped!

The vet says our cat "might" have lymphoma - very frustrated

Over the last month our beloved 20-year-old void Stumpy has been going downhill. She got constipated, so we put her on a mild laxative, then lost her appetite so added stimulators to the mix. She lost about a third of her weight and started breathing heavily so we took her back to the vet again.

They gave her an xray and did blood work, then gave the extremely frustrating answer that she "might " have cancer and could go within six weeks. However, they couldn't find a tumour and taking biopsies would be really traumatic - she hates the vet enough as it is.

She’s much more lethargic than usual, doesn’t use her tree and takes the steps to bed rather than her usual bound, grooms less, and as a very vocal cat who has gotten increasingly quiet. We’re really worried and are trying out a range of new foods to try and her weight up.

Cat-safe bug repellent

i recently moved to a new apartment with a pretty huge terrace/balcony. my kitty absolutely loves it out there but the bugs are becoming a problem especially since we live near a lake. does anyone have any pest repellants they’d recommend that wouldn’t hurt my kitty? mainly having issues with spiders and those lil fruit fly type guys. i know essential oils are iffy as well, not sure if they’re something i could spray and wait a day for it to dissipate, and as long as my cat doesn’t get into those areas she would be fine? any insight is much appreciated!

What to make of this?

Hello from the USA. It looks like our(31F & 28M) 14 year old female spayed tuxedo cat threw up outside of her litter box (which she does every now and again because she eats too fast) but this vomit looks different than what we're used to. It usually is like a lighter tan color with chunks of her hard food. Does this look like something to raise concern about? Is it blood? Did she have the hershey squirts before she made it to her litter box? Just darker vomit? We are taking her to the vet but any insight beforehand is appreciated.

My cat has this swollen lump on his lip. Vet isn’t sure what it is. Anyone else experience this?

I noticed about a week ago that Moose (1.5 years old, Ragdoll) had a little red patch on his chin, so I started watching it and taking photos. I noticed his chin is full of little brown specs, which are likely closed comodomes/feline acne. Then after about 4 days of that I noticed his bottom lip was a little swollen and the next day it turned into this. I took him to the vet the next day and they’re not sure what it is. They don’t think it’s infected, so we have him on 5 days on metacam to help with pain and inflammation. I am also rubbing a toner pad on his chin daily that the vet gave me to help with the comodomes (little man has his own skin care routine now lol). Today is day 3 and it hasn’t changed much. It doesn’t seem to be causing him pain. He’s eating, drinking, playing and sleeping as normal. We haven’t changed his food recently so I’m not thinking it’s an allergy, and he drinks water out of stainless steel bowls and fountains that are cleaned every day. If it doesn’t go down with the meds I’ll take him back for a biopsy and bloodwork but hoping it doesn’t come to that. Anyone else have this happen to their cat? Any ideas? TYIA :)

Skin issue on my cat, advice needed

Hi all,

My gf and I have a 1.5 year old cat he’s been having an ongoing issue with debris on his skin, he has loads of these little black specks which are quite stubborn to get off the skin, and bathing doesn’t help much. I’m sure he’s not very comfortable as it’s quite literally all over his body from his mouth, chin, legs, stomach, etc.

We took him to the vet last year and they didn’t have much to offer in the way of solutions or diagnosis, apart from being positive it wasn’t flea-related. “It’s possibly allergies” or “you can try giving fish oil” but nothing has made a noticable difference even after changing him over to different food.

Has anyone here experienced this, and had a positive outcome? Any similar insight would be appreciated!

What's wrong with his lip?

I was looking at my cat and noticed that his lip looks a little strange. His lip was swollen in the same area a few days ago, but it just now is starting to look like this. I'm wondering if this is just the swelling going down or an entirely different issue?

Undiagnosed cat asthma care

I’m like 90% sure my 1 year old cat has asthma, but I can’t take him to the vet because I can’t afford all the tests and vet prescribed inhalers.

I’ve noticed his breathing has always been more noticeable than my other cat ever since I got him at 8 months. He sighs and makes sounds so I always suspected asthma, but recently he’s been coughing and sneezing more.

Is there any recommendations or suggestions I can use to help calm his asthma. I know that the inhalers that humans use are the same ones as the ones cats are prescribed, but I would need to be absolutely sure and prescribed by a vet before giving him it right? I just cant afford the bills.

Why hasn’t a top entry stainless steel litter box been created yet?!

I have searched everywhere and can not find one. The only ones that do exist in stainless steel defeat the benefits of the top entry. I love our current Iris ones but hate plastic. I wish I knew how to go about manufacturing one. Someone smarter than me please do it! Please forgive the AI rendering but I needed to see what one could look like!

Blood in cats poop. How worried should I be?

So earlier this morning before I left for work my chunky cat went to bathroom. When she came running out the bathroom I noticed a huge, snot like line of blood around her butt.(had a photo but its too blurry) I then went and checked her poop and there was a little blood on the last one she pushed out. She’s acting normal and eating/drinking. Could this wait until tomorrow or should I go as soon as the nearest vet opens? I also saved the poop just in case.
