Cat exhibiting heat-like symptoms but tested negative for hormones

Hello all, I am an adult in the US with vet access, my cat is 1 month 1 month and i’ve had her since 6 months old. She was spayed when we adopted her and she has pet insurance.

At the end of June, she was in the counter and was trying to drink water (she loves faucet) when I accidentally splashed her and she jumped off. About an hour later, I noticed she was not sitting normally, keeping her legs up and almost kicking or stomping the back legs, while making a weird noise. She stopped playing like she normally did and seemed less interested in food or snacks, but still ate. She was using the litterbox normal. The next day, I noticed she had vaginal discharge so I took her to the emergency vet. They did a urine test and said there was minimal bacteria but gave antibiotics and a pain med in case it was muscular from jumping down (although she jumps all the time without issue). they all said she was lactjng like she was in heat. She was flopping over and rubbing her face on things. It ended after about 7-8 days. I was able to take her to the normal vet and they did x rays of her back side because she growled when they palpated her back and leg, all came back negative for bone issues. She was given mor antibiotics to see if it was uti and additional pain meds.

Since then, this cycle has happened 4 times:

  1. end of june to beginning of july 7ish days; (9 days normal

  2. mid july to mid/late july 6ish days (9ish days normal)

  3. late july to early august 7ish days (12 days normal)

  4. back to start over the weekend and ongoing.

Every time she has seemed to be a little bit more normal. The end of the last time she started a longer antibiotic course. Between the 2nd and 3rd time, she did an ovarian remnant test, but she was not having symptoms then. It was negative. The insurance has covered most of this. I just want her to feel better. She continues to flop a decent amount, rubs her face on everything, and consistently does the feet thing in a belly down squat. She makes whimper sounding noises a good amount especially at night.

She is normally so playful but during these times, it’s almost like she goes into a trance. I usually can pick her up and hold her like a baby with a rounded back (her butt and back on my arm) but during these times, she arches her back and almost spasms fighting rounding her back. She crawls on my beg and stands with her arms on the headboard and kicks her legs, she is always doing that stomp kick thing. She seems so uncomfy….

I don’t know what to do for her anymore, I am at such a loss. I work and feel like the worst person leaving her in this condition but she always is normal in the interim periods.

Prosecutor to private practice advice

I have four years of experience as a prosecutor and I’m looking to move onto my next chapter. There is not much upward mobility and I do not want to stay in the unit that I’m in now that being said this job has allowed me to do many trials and I’ve done over 15 jury trials in the last year.

I’m not exactly sure what my next step should be however, I am not interested in personal injury from plaintiff side. There are a couple insurance companies that are hiring for in-house defense, as well as a local law firm that does criminal defense, family law and some plaintive side, other civil cases. I am not against doing criminal defense, although I would probably have an issue with SVU, and I’ve always been a little interested in family wall, as well as the states and trust my main thing is I would like to still have a good work life balance. I understand going private sometimes being in trial means having to work nights or weekends as that was the case with my current job, but I want to make sure that I still am not working on average more than 50 hours a week get to take vacations and able to work from home occasionally and spend time with my new dog who is my best friend. I also would like to make more money than I am currently I have applied to some more opportunities that are longer shots policy, organizations, and firms that require a little bit more experience please give me any help you were able to. I’m taking through my next step logically.

Thank you

What fair salary = 1800 billable hours

What salary per year makes 1800 billable hours worth it for an attorney who has never billed before, there are bonuses for meeting hours, an opportunity for growth. Additionally, this is in a medium cost of living city (civil defense, PI)

1800 billable hours, 120k offer law firm advise

I was offered a job for $120,000 today and a Law Firm in my city that is on par with Chicago cost of living. It is 1800 billable hours. They are pretty reputable firm that have been around for a long time. I would be doing litigation a good amount would be PI defense, but it could include everything else civil except Medau med space MAL. My current job is in the government I make about $95,000 and I am in court constantly in over 20 jury trials this year and court most days. in the new job I would work from home two days a week we’re in my current job. I’m allowed one day a week every other week when I’m not in court. I have to pay for parking in both jobs and they’re both about the same distance from my home. in the new job they’re looking for somebody who will one day like to become a partner, this isn’t a small firm, but it’s definitely not a big Law Firm is 120,000+ whatever applicable bonuses if I hit my hours fair value for 1800 billable hours? I have never billed hours before, I know there can be a learning curve. Is this something where if the work is there which they say it is and I don’t doubt, I will have trouble doing working as close to 40 hours a week as possible (knowing it will likely be higher)? This is near the bottom of the range however, I have no civil defense experience and only a little bit of civil plaintive experience with mostly government. They say most of the work is in office doing discovery and depositions as opposed to actually be in court because most think settle.

Advice in house counsel insurance defense job

I am a public interest attorney with over 100 jury and bench trials in the first 4 years of my practice. I work on a team that has upwards of 60 cases at a time and have little to no help other than basic discovery sometimes being put in my file. In the last year in my current role, I have had over 10 jury trials not including the at least 20 court appearances a month I have in the same jurisdiction. There is very little room for growth, a people who are not qualified get promoted. The pay is less than 100k… We have good benefits but we do not have much authority and I am burned out. I have a very little commute here.

I have an offer to take an insurance in house counsel position (captive) with either Travelers or an insurance defense firm position. My location (western US) is hybrid 2 days a week for both jobs. Travelers has a billing requirement (they say akin to tracking time) and ID does as well, (both are in the low 2000s). The pay increase in both of these positions is nearly 50k. Both roles allegedly come with bonuses but i’m not factoring that in. Benefits seem pretty good as well. I’m trying to debate if captive counsel is worth it coming from the amount of work I already have for less compensation. I’m not worried about the choice’s the affect on getting a future role. My main concern is with the billable hours. Does anyone have experience with Traveler’s and their billables? Do training and other things count for them, or is it just work on cases. And if it doesn’t count, are they strict about billing (.1 for email reading and separate for responding or everything is in one block).
