Need replacement pods during cancer treatment

Hi, all. I have been using Omnipod with my Dexcom for a couple of years now.

Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have finished chemo. The next step is radiation therapy, which I start next month.

When I first met with the radiation oncologist, she told me that I would need to remove my pod and my sensor every day before the radiation therapy. The therapy will be every day, M-F, for as long as five weeks. That’s a lot of pods to burn through.

Has anyone ever had to request additional pods for this reason? Did you go through your endo, or straight through insurance? (I am in the United States.) I don’t have any other method of insulin delivery — no pens, etc.

Thanks for any insight and advice. This road has been tough, but I’m doing well and want this part to go as smoothly as possible, too.

Agnes’ secret stash of items she has collected from “before”

I put the spoiler tag on the whole post because I’m not quite sure of the protocol.

When she pulled out the stash of things she had found, my heart broke when I saw the pens. As a writer, who survived my teenage years only because I could pour out my thoughts onto paper, I got teary-eyed.

Agnes has always been curious, and any authoritarian society wants to stamp out curiosity — because it leads to independent thinking.

I liked Daisy’s quick decision to try to shield Agnes from the reality of that little glass pipe. It felt real to me, and a sign that she wants to be friends with Agnes. Agnes won’t want her pity — she made that clear.
