Looking for opinions on B&W film development, especially Foto Express, or other options.

Just moved to the area and I'm trying to re-start my black and white film hobby. I'm just looking for a place that sells a variety of film--nothing exotic--including b&w, and offering processing service. All I really want are the negs, so I'm curious about where they'll do this, or if they automatically include scanning, etc., and a general idea of how much it might cost.

Foto Express is and easy trip for me via light rail, so I was curious to hear opinions on that place.

Where I moved from, I had a place that did b&w film, negs only, for $6. I'm kind of doubting I will be able to find a place that matches that, but it would be nice.

Number of Archetypal Peeves

Author Christopher Booker argues that there are seven basic story plots in the world--e.g., "the quest, voyage and return, rebirth, that sort of thing. I'm wondering how many pet peeves there are. I mean, like, unwanted noise, stupid people, and of course, left-lane-campers, deserving of a category all their own, corporate rip-offs, eating habits, grammar infractions. There can't be too many, though, if broken down into general categories, right?

I ask this for my partner, who is using a laptop for professional purposes, i.e. no gaming, and your typical web browsing and email. It's a 15" 2 in 1 that is starting to get quirky after maybe 5 years. So, a new one is in order.

The top priority is probably reliability--the work is years in progress and she is just looking for rock-solid day to day performance.

The other priority is it must be able to handle MS Word, Adobe Illustrator, Excell, and Sigma Plot (a pretty demanding program) open in Windows simultaneously.

She always uses her own keyboard, so she wants the "convertible" type, that can be folded around for tent-mode. The size of the current one is 15.5" diagonal, or 16" corner to corner physically.

Price is not really a consideration, but . . . under $2,000, say.

Neither of us is especially tech literate, so, looking for advice and recommendations for a replacement. I'm sure this question has been asked before--I know things change quickly, and looking for up-to-date information.
