Little project I’ve been building: a custom game client/server and engine, along with OrB Landscaper & OrB Architect. My old core team 20 years ago and I made UO Architect & UO Landscaper.
These shots show the current OrB Engine client from OrBSydia.com. The engine can load existing UO data as read-only for testing, while the larger goal is to build a completely new game. I’m taking a stab at building my original vision of these systems from 20 years ago.
I have full 8-way movement, WASD/arrow keys, with the mouse free to do whatever, hotbar switching with the mouse wheel, full zoom outside of the hotbar, and controller support.
This isn’t a UO emulator; it’s more of a full game client/system sandbox I’ve been building. My tools don’t edit UO data, but instead make use of OrB-data for building custom systems and adding art, etc. later.
This is very much a work in progress. It’s purely for fun. Figured I’d share the WIP. This nod to a game that very loved for decades.
I haven’t set a release date or anything; it’s just been fun to build again. I’ve been building it from the ground up, not using existing source from the emu community, although I’ve put together full credits and info for references, etc.
