What do we call our beautiful british longhair boy

We’ll be picking up this beautiful boy next month. What should we name him?

Hi all! I’ve seen and heard a LOT of people recommend getting a second cat, but I am stuck with a lot of doubt.

My cat is fairly young, about 1,5 years old. He’s a british shorthair. We got him as a kitten and he was extremely insecure when we got him. It took him a long while to get used to us. Obviously, he now feels like he owns our home, but whenever something new or unexpected happens, I can see him getting insecure again.

We both work fulltime but we work from home a lot so he’s only alone for like 1 day every other week. Though we are home a lot, I often feel like he gets bored. We play/cuddle with him whenever we have a break, but it never seems to be enough for him.

He runs after other cats when they walk by our home a lot. He doesn’t hiss or anything, but he follows them next to every window. We once had my mom’s dog over for a visit and he straight up jumped right into her immediately. I don’t know if it was to fight or to play, as he wasn’t hissing or anything. I have no clue whether or not he would absolutely hate or love another cat in our home.

We have now been offered to adopt a maine coon kitten from a friend. My partner knows I have always wanted a maine coon and is fine with adopting him. I, however, am scared it’ll end in total failure and heartbreak.

I know there’s pretty much no way of knowing if my cat with love or hate another buddy, so how did y’all decide whether to get another one or not?
