kinda tired of feeling judged every time i go to the dentist

just a rant i guess.

went for a checkup last week near downtown. nothing crazy just needed to use my insurance before the year ended. the whole appointment just left me feeling like garbage.

the hygienist asked how often i floss. i said "most days" which is true but sometimes i skip a day or two. she gave me this look. like a disappointed mom look. then she spent 10 minutes showing me how to floss properly. i'm 34 years old. i know how floss works.

then the dentist came in and started talking about my gums and bone loss and "potential concerns" if i dont change my habits. kept using words like "we need to watch this" and "progressive condition." wouldnt give me a straight answer about whether anything is actually wrong right now or if hes just predicting future problems.

i left with a treatment plan for something called a "deep cleaning" that costs like $800 after insurance. and a recommendation for a night guard. and a follow up in 3 months instead of 6.

maybe i do need all that stuff. i dont know. im not a dentist. but the whole experience just felt like they were trying to scare me into spending money.

anyway thanks for listening. just needed to complain somewhere

e46 tape deck ate my cassette adapter

2003 330i no aux no bluetooth. just the business cd player with a tape deck that i forgot existed until i needed it. was using cassette adapters with the wire hanging out they look like a real tape but theres a cable going to your phone. worked fine for like a year. sound was garbage but it was my garbage . one day im driving home, listening to a podcast, and the sound starts getting slower and slower like the tape is dying. then a loud click and everything stops. the adapter wont eject. the radio still works but the tape deck is just stuck making this grinding noise every time i try to get it out. with pliers and a screwdriver pulled out pieces of black plastic and a torn piece of ribbon cable.

then i bought an fm transmitter and hated it. static everywhere, every time i drove under a bridge the music would cut out. my girlfriend asked why we were listening to music through a potato

tried and those bluetooth to fm things same problem. random russian radio stations bleeding through. i almost bought one of those cheap android screens on aliexpress for 150 bucks. looked at the reviews, half of them said it died after 2 months

curious what are you guys using in your e46? anyone else gone through the cassette adapter did you find a solution? maybe theres something i havent seen yet that works just as good or better.

also if you got any tips for keeping the old screen from fogging up in winter or something random like that id take it lol.hope everyone's tape decks are still alive out there. drive safe and may your adapters never get eaten

jelly gel polishes that look expensive on natural nails

ive been doing my nails at home more and the jelly style gels are my new favorite because they give a soft see through effect that looks really modern. switched to NSI Nails jelly gels a few weeks ago and the application is easy with great shine that holds up well through daily chores.

anyone else loving the jelly trend? which colors work best for you?

Not promoting anything, just sharing a comparison after struggling with my resume for a while.

I used to rely on automated online resume builders because they take no effort. You get a neat layout and clean formatting, but for me, the results were stagnant.

I was just spending hours adjusting margins and wording without actually improving how I was being presented. I eventually tried Vms to see if a human perspective would change anything. The human approach felt more like someone stepping back and saying this is what actually matters here instead of just helping me format what I already wrote.

My resume now focuses less on what I was responsible for and more on what actually changed because I was there. I'm still early in the job hunt, so I don't know the final outcomes yet, but the document feels entirely different.

not just your favorite, but something you think would actually hold up to being read over and over again without getting stale

what makes it worth coming back to every time?

Hi all, looking for a bit of real talk – older sibling panic mode activated.

My brother’s in Year 13 and honestly, the pressure on him right now is unreal. He’s always been the laid-back one in our family, but this year it’s like the weight of the world’s landed on his shoulders. He’s up till 1am most nights, textbooks everywhere, and I caught him staring at his notes last week looking properly lost.

I’d love to help him but, truthfully, I barely remember my own A-Levels (pretty sure I blocked them out on purpose).

He’s not the type to ask for help either, which makes it worse.

I’m tempted to book him a few proper revision sessions as a bit of a lifeline before exams. Had a scroll through Tutorextra – looks decent, but there’s so many tutors it’s a bit of a minefield. Has anyone actually used it for A-Levels?

Is it worth getting someone in at this stage, or is it just better to let him slog through YouTube like everyone else?

If anyone’s got recommendations for tutors who actually know their stuff

Cheers in advance.

When introducing someone to stargazing, certain constellations are easier to explain. They have clear shapes and are easier to recognize. Some patterns seem to catch people’s attention immediately. Which constellation do you like showing first?
