I'm curious how other Canadian small-business owners approach organic social when A) you're operating in a fairly niche category and B) when you're looking specifically for someone who has strategic depth (not just pushing out posts).

We're an early-stage ecommerce brand in the beauty/wellness space, but our positioning is quite different from what most social media marketers in the beauty industry are used to. We're not a typical beauty brand where the strategy can revolve around trends, product demos, influencer content, or generic skincare education.

We're finding it surprisingly difficult to find someone who can really understand the brand, develop the overall organic social strategy, and figure out what we should be saying to the right audience — rather than simply creating posts and reels from a content calendar.

I'm curious whether other small-business owners have run into something similar, particularly when your product/category or positioning doesn't fit neatly into the usual social media playbook.

Have you had success with a freelancer, consultant, or agency for this? And what did you find separated the people who could actually develop the strategy from those who were primarily content producers?

Looking for recommendations for a digital marketing agency in Canada for an early-stage premium beauty/wellness ecommerce brand.

We are a lifestyle wellness brand in a niche segment within the beauty category, selling premium products that require a relatively high degree of customer education and trust-building before purchase. Our biggest challenge right now is customer acquisition — not simply driving traffic, but finding the right strategy to communicate product value effectively and convert first-time buyers.

We are specifically looking for an agency that can handle paid social (primarily Meta), creative strategy/content direction, and ideally broader ecommerce growth strategy with a strong understanding of customer psychology and premium consumer brands.

Budget is roughly in the CAD $3k–5k/month range for agency fees (excluding ad spend), so many larger agencies focused on established brands have unfortunately not been a fit.

I tried speaking to them many times - all I get is repeating numbers and occasional messages in a TV show/print media... And occasionally I get certain downloads of data or inferences. I know that some people say that this is also a form of communication from the guides above, but I am not exactly convinced... Sometimes I believe it and sometimes I don't.

I asked them for more clearer messages but I didn't get any- many people report sounds/ bodily sensations etc.... in fact, of late they have stopped responding even via words in media. I came across a few videos where the creators spoke about asking them to wake you up at a specific time like an alarm clock- that didn't happen with me either.

Did anyone have an experience where the guide stopped responding or weren't responding earlier but then suddenly started?? What did you change to trigger that?

Some people say you are not on the right vibrational frequency, that's why you're not hearing them- but I'm not sure that's the case. If there are guides from birth to death, they should be helping us irrespective of our mental state? They're aware that this existence on earth is difficult, so I don't know why mine don't respond like other people's guides do.

Only reason I can think of is that maybe they think that intervening right now is not going to serve my purpose or my situation.... But honestly I'm going through so much that I don't know why any guide would think like that.
