College Conposition II is beating my ass

I just spent 2 hours staring at a blank document before I caved and made the teeniest, the smallest of outlines on a loose sheet of paper out of desperation. I just needed to vent this out to anyone in the same boat.

So I did a thing

TRUST THE PROCESS.

I would get the black toe replacements but the dye was already expensive.

I used Angelus suede dye

Limping both legs randomly

Shes only just turned 1 last February. Kobold has been limping on both hind legs randomly for a few weeks. Originally she only limped her right hind and was diagnosed with a level 2 luxating patella. Now her left hind leg is doing the same thing. She limps until she pops her kneecap into place. It doesn't seem to be painful except for a few instances where she plays too hard.

Her vet has suggested physical therapy or surgery while shes still young. I am afraid if we go with surgery it wont be a success and it will make it worse.

Does anyone have any experience with either? Or should I just leave it as is because she only yelps in pain maybe once or twice a week? Im afraid if we dont act now she will be in mote pain before even her senior years

Taking clients in another region has lowered my hourly rate

I live just across the state border from the region I work in now. When I signed onto this company I was given a specific hourly rate, the clients in this region did not work out. Too many telehealth sessions and dangerous situations that led to me being removed from 3 cases for my own safety. I was offered ONE client across the state border in another region and that BCBA liked me so much I am now exclusively working with her for 3 different clients outside of my home region. I have no clients in the region I signed on for.

The problem is, I wasn't told this would effect my hourly rate. It dropped 2 dollars, and Im commuting 30-40 minutes daily both ways on top of peak traffic hours on the way home. Literally one day my regional coordinator told me she was moving me to the other region and the next day I got a message telling me my new hourly rate. Im trying to fight this so hard.

Does anyone have any advice or insight? I know its a long shot but Im genuinely stressing out about this, those 2 dollars hourly could go to gas for all the driving im doing.

Im not in my home region due to the circumstances here, I didn't intentionally decide to just dip.

Redyeing my new boots!

I got a good deal off a teammate but I DESPISE pink. So I am going to dye them. The left boot i am dedicating to the teammate who sold me these boots and is currently letting me borrow their 2nd pair of skates while we gear these up in a few weeks (road trip to Charlotte for derby city!) Their favorite colors are purple and blue, and Im keeping a pink strap to remember them too.

The right boot I tried to model after my derby name, Frodo. So deep red, dark brown and dark green (in theory, if I can darken the available green with black dye)

Do yall think this would look good on the floor? I know wheels make a big difference but just pretend its only the suede we have to look at.

I'm probably going to get brown or black laces.

Kobolds spa day

Some people think hand stripping is painful. Shes dead asleep, the hardest part of hand stripping her is getting a good angle to actually hand strip her

Where to look for small secondhand boots

Looking for my first pair of derby skates. I have inlines I love, but my derby team finally managed to peer pressure me to get quads and be more involved.

Im borrowing someone's size 4.5 Riedell Vendetta 265 skates but unfortunately they're not selling so Id like to find something that fits similarly, the closest place to buy in person is 2 hours away.

Where do yall suggest finding secondhand skates? The FB recyclables group doesn't have anything in my size or budget ($300)

From fear reactive to trying to figure out how to play rough. Kobold is unstoppable

Second post today but I could not be prouder of her. She just came back from social group and the trainer sent videos of her playing with a rough housing mini goldendoodle. This is only her second day in social group and shes already coming out of her shell.

She was uncomfortable at times when play got a little too much too soon but the trainer paused play for her to recover and come back to the doodle for more play!

I'd show a video but Id have to mute it for the trainer's privacy and it doesn't look like Kobold's getting a lot of support if its muted (but she is!)

She wont stop messing with a bug bite on her leg

Literally had to donut her, shave her inner thigh bald, and put a bandaid on it. I dont want to keep putting a bandaid on it because it was really hard to remove without causing discomfort.

I tried doggy safe bandages that the vets use but its in an area that is super hard to keep covered so we removed the bandages.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? She can JUST barely reach it with the donut on but it at least discourages extended reaching.

Not sure why she hit a pose for the donut, this pic was meant for her trainer to be aware of it before I dropped her off for social group.

Being guilt tripped while I look for a place to take her today

I swear we're leaving soon, I just want to make sure there's something you'll actually enjoy there

What are your in home safety tips?

So far I haven't felt in true danger in home from a family. What are your tips for basically entering and working in other people's homes? Not counting safety strategies for clients, I mean yourself.

Kobold went to small social group today! First day ever!

She made a friend with the other newbie. Apparently he also has reactivity issues, its honestly so adorable they found each other.

So proud of how far shes gotten. The trainer sends me videos and Kobold definitely gets uncomfortable at times but she is learning now to navigate dogs in a controlled environment. Today she tried to play but when the other dogs engaged with play her nerves got the better of her and she just sat down. The others knew to back off at that point, she also took a nap and watched them play from afar. For a first day playing with a small group id say that's amazing. She also got a special play group in the evening with her 2 favorite dogs.

Just a few weeks ago she was incredibly people reactive! She has been chasing this girl for hours! Toys! Treats! Kobold has beem following her everywhere!

Ive been replaced! I love this so much for her! More updates to come in the coming weeks!

Kobold is 9playing with a dog!

Kobold is working with a service dog to learn how to play! Shes obsessed with her, this was their first session together and the trainer visited our home with the service dog this weekend for their second session and Kobold wanted everything to do with this dog. Shes going to have a few more sessions to get over the uncertainty before she gets placed in a social group with this dog to hopefully learn that dogs are fun!

Im so proud of her for getting over her fears, we've learned that the reactivity seems to be stemming from not knowimg how to communicate or read other dogs, probably from mama dog not socializing her before we picked her up.

Im really proud of her progress, shes even drastically lowered her human reactivity after getting some confidence with dogs and the trainer. So excited for her.

And yes, she skirts her butt when shes playing. The running herr wasnt out of fear, it was her being a little turd and wanting the dog to chase because she does it at home with us.

Updates to come!

Thinking of trying Skateland's group lessons. I have inline skates and I used to skate a ton back in college but now Ive lost all my skill and confidence.

Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it fun?

Edit: I think Im accidentally advertising skateland. I just saw this on their website and was curious.
