episode 2 is underrated (spoilers for all of umineko)

im rereading umineko right now, and i have to admit, it reads quite different. episode 1, while isn't as tense and mystery centered (since you know what happened), is pretty much still an amazing introduction to the series. also, a ton of moments still hit incredibly hard knowing the background of the story, and episode 2 takes it a level further!

honestly, episode 2 reads way more in depth on the second read. from shannon's introduction, to the fantasy centered killing game, to the insane final chapters, all of it reads IMMENSELY introspective on beatrice's character much better than on the first go! it's honestly risen to one of the best parts in umineko now (jm sure the other parts will to though lol).

im apart of the crowd that dislikes the choices the manga took in episode 8, and i truly believe episode 6's love trials, every part of episode 7, and episode 2's storyline with shannon and kanon far surpasses the "confession". and thats because it's what sayo wanted to share! confession isn't what sayo, nor ryukishi wanted go reveal.

anyways thats it! tell me what you think.

the things you notice on a reread... (ep5 spoilers)

i was just rereading episode 1 of umineko, and right after eva and natsuhi's fight scene, eva says this.

do you think eva knew kinzo has been dead??? the line hit so hard right out of the blue! sometimes i forget that umineko was seriously planned out meticulously, rather than how higurashi was made. ryukishi is a genius.

basically if you forgot the context, eva put a receipt in kinzo's door after natsuhi "met" him, and he wasnt there when they came back and checked on the room. but the receipt was still stuck in the door at that time so the question was how did he get out.

best/favorite written mom?

my favorite is natsuhi, but honestly i think rosa has the most realistic writing between all of them. her and maria's parts throughout the story make me so sad. kyrie is pretty underrated as well.

best JR project?

i ask this because i see a lot of discourse over her albums revengeseekerz and the heart ep but not a lot on the others! i'm curious to see which are actually peoples favorites. of course, all of her projects are amazing, but i think it's an interesting thing to discuss about. 🙂‍↔️

reddit only lets me pick six. i chose these 6, as i think they represent her discography from the years the best!
if your favorite isn't in the poll explain which it is in the comments. my favorite would be census designated, hits too hard for me to not choose 😭

be sure to say why and give your reasoning ✌️

how would you rank census designated?

this has become my favorite album over the past few months, and i want to see peoples favorite/least favorite songs! i know jane doesn't enjoy this album as it was a dark period in her life, but i really enjoy the soundscape of this album and truly believe its in my top 10 favorite albums of all time.

my ranking would be... (best to worst)

idling somewhere
census designated
cage girl
contingency song
lips
backseat girl
video
holding a leech
always have always will
fling

every song is perfect btw ✌️

Preachers Daughter or Wallsocket?

I've been listening to both of these albums lately as I think they have a ton in common.

Concept albums, rural towns in the U.S, both by trans artists (Ethel Cain and Underscores), and they both have came out around the same time period.

Which do you prefer and why? I prefer Wallsocket because of its sonic diversity and I enjoy a more varied project, but I have to admit I find the story of Preachers Daughter better and way more emotional. I love both of them very much and if you haven't listened to one yet, make sure to check it out.

Best episode (VN or manga)?

Heads up - I'm going to not include episode 1 and 2 because reddit will only allow 6 options! All of the options include the tea parties and ???'s. Be sure to say why it's your favorite in the comments. ⭐️

wondering if you guys put the directors cut tracks into the track-list in any specific way? i'm not too deep into the lore so im not exactly sure, but could the directors cut tracks be placed into the original track-list in a way that flows well and makes sense? is there a preferred order rather than having them all in the back?

thanks!
