Anyone get the latest update via the Playstore yet?

I was excited to see the improvements listed in the changelog.

But I have yet to see it pushed onto the Playstore for my 2 Nvidia Shields. Anyone else? I'm in the US, have the pro purchase.

EDIT: I joined the beta, but I finally just did the sideload. The github version updated right over the Playstore version without issue. I believe that means the signatures match and if/when another update eventually comes, it can be updated via the Playstore (or sideloading again).

Suggestions for using IPTV service with Plex's LiveTV via a Threadfin server. Also, what counts as "1 connection?"

I'm looking into subscribing to an IPTV service. I had previously used a free one, and managed to connect it into my Plex's LiveTV for DVR recording, using Threadfin. Plex's DVR recording system is much maligned, but it did work.

I had set Threadfin up for 3 instances, so theoretically the server could record 3 shows at the same. In reality I barely ever recorded 1 show, but it was nice to have that option.

I'm now looking for a more reliable IPTV service. I thought about Xtreme IPTV but there are varying opinions here about the reliability. Regardless, I see that their cheapest plan is 1 connection.

Since the Threadfin server is on a single PC device, is there any chance the "1 connection" plan allows for more than 1 stream at a time?

If you have Plex connected to your IPTV service, would love to hear any recommendations/suggestions. Thank you.

Assistance in recovering/decompressing .cpt files from floppy, OS 7.1

Long ago, I had a Powerbook 145b. Very recently, I found a 3.5 floppy disk with document files from this relic.

I actually went through the trouble of obtaining a functional Powerbook 165c, which is running 7.1. Much to my delight, the documents do appear intact. It looks like I compressed the documents into .cpt files.

I'm now trying to extract the .cpt file contents to get them to a modern PC.

I have a functional PC 3.5 disk drive.

I have a working Basilisk II emulator.

I first used Apple File Exchange to transfer the cpt files to a PC floppy. Then I copied the files to a location accessible to Basilisk. I installed Compact Pro 1.51 on Basilisk.

As the next hurdle I can't get Compact Pro to recognize the files.

Can someone assist as the next step?

There is a APCINFO.DAT file on the floppy. Is this needed to get the files properly viewed?

Assistance in recovering old, encrypted Mac documents from the mid 1990s?

In the mid-90s, I began journaling my daily college life. I had a Powerbook 140, and used Microsoft Word for daily document files. I then used Norton/Symantec Encrypt to protect these files. (Fortunately I actually still remember the password).

Then life happened, the Powerbook was given to a family member, but I'm pretty sure I made a copy of all the data somewhere.

Recently, I went through some archives, and potentially, the files are right there, on a 3.5 floppy with "Journals" written on the label.

I'm pretty sure they are full of r/im14andthisisdeep -esque commentary, so perhaps unearthing these would be more embarrassing than anything, but it'd be a good laugh.

I did purchase a 3.5" USB floppy drive previously to look at old PC disks, and it seems to work fine on Win10. I popped in my disk, but it was unable to read anything. Other disks, from the same era and box, are readable. I'm guessing it's possible I left the disk in Mac format.

Questions:

  1. Is there a way to read the disk, if it is indeed in Mac format from that era, on a modern PC? I found hfsexplorer, but I don't think it's the right utility. Or, do I need to find same-era Apple hardware?
  2. I'm hoping I was smart enough to copy over the Norton Encrypt app to the floppy. Otherwise, I'd have to find a copy.
  3. Or... maybe the disk is bad and the data is gone?
