Lifelong dream came true recently

Ever since I started flight simming as a 7 year old boy, so close to 3 decades, I have wondered what it’s really like. How the switches feel, whether all that flight sim knowledge would actually be applicable, all that. Having the mathematical capacity of a dead fish, I have no business flying a real airliner as a profession or otherwise, but recently a mate and I had an extraordinary opportunity to fly a few patterns in a full motion 787 sim. An unforgettable experience and a strong testament to the quality of study-level add-ons, because everything felt familiar.

The Tristar is so beautiful when it works

No other plane can make my Xbox scream for mercy like the Tristar can. But oh boy, when it IS stable, it’s so so pretty.
Is there any other plane where you can see the rear wing from the cabin?

LFKJ-LTFM in the 707

This plane leaves very little to be desired, at its price it should be a no-brainer for anyone that likes old jets. The water injection system works too, with proper pollution effects!

Now THAT is an update

Remember when a Boeing 707 was launched for MSFS2020? Well apparently I bought it back then and the state of the plane made me forget it immediately. Until today, when Working Title pushed an update for the product and it’s safe to say that improvements have been made. Or more specifically it looks amazing. Both model and cockpit look exceptionally well and even though I haven’t completed a full flight yet, it felt very good on the stick in those few minutes.

Golden departure from SCEL

Wonderful heavy takeoff from SCEL, bound for FACT. The heavy old lady barely made it over the mountains before fighting her way to FL290. Slowly getting the hang of this wonderful, complex aircraft that runs better on Xbox than most default aircraft. Hats off to TFDi, their passion truly is palpable when flying the MD-11.

Welcoming 2 new birds to the fleet

The HX 747-8 in the LH centennial livery just became available at my local outlet and it had been on my wishlist for quite a while. But then I came across this beautiful obscure Thai Airways DC-10-30 by Aeroclassics, in the KLM dry lease livery. What a happy start to the weekend!

Someone’s enjoying the first rays of sunlight

All the countless times I couldn’t choose between flying or playing Animal Crossing.. now I don’t have to choose anymore!

Why does the 777 deliberately overshoot the turn?

I’m trying to figure out why the 777F specifically overshoots turns, apparently on purpose? I’m used to planes in all weight categories correctly figuring out their way through a turn ahead of the waypoint, but I’ve never seen this behavior. I tried messing with the cost index as well as the payload but it stays this way. Am I missing something or is this a bug perhaps? Thanks!

One of the prettier flights I took

I mean I love jets, but this thing is peak PMDG. It’s complicated, but very accessible. Incredibly immersive but also very relaxing to fly. 10/10 would recommend the DC-6. Seem here on a early morning flight from Addis Ababa to Amman.

Levantine Landfall

Approaching the beautiful Lebanese coastline on our way to Doha. The TriStar is running much much better on Xbox now than the last time I touched it (cursed and forgot it a week after launch since it sucked up all the memory in a matter seconds).

Perfect camouflage

Blending in nicely with the thick clouds over Beijing as we head towards Jakarta.

First signs of addiction

Always had a love for scale models of everything, especially aircraft. I’ve had the KLM 744 for years but when I recently met my girlfriend, whose collection is roughly the same size as mine right now(yes I got extremely lucky), the buy rate went up considerably. I expect this number to go up a bit faster than my wallet likes, but alas.

Smoking during transfer in Shanghai (PVG)

Does anyone know if and how to sneak a puff during a layover in Shanghai? Is there any such amenity in the China Eastern terminal or does one need to go through security for that?

Thanks!

Finally some decent traffic on console

Bravoairspace has released quite a comprehensive traffic mod to the Marketplace and so far I’ve been quite enjoying it. Still 60% of the aircraft are plain white, but it’s already way better than a field full of 717 prototypes.

Truly amazing what Asobo managed to squeeze out of a console. Everything from LOD distance, terrain texture loading times and FPS have greatly improved!
