Anyone else having trouble with Target REDCard needing frequent reauthorizations?

I've been using YNAB for almost a year now. I have had very little trouble with my banking connections. Right now, my Target REDCard is using a Plaid connector, and recently it has been requiring reauthorization almost daily. It's getting really annoying. None of my other connections are having this problem.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Could it be related to sharing the connection in 2 plans? It's a joint card card (well, I'm primary and my wife is an authorized user). I have separate plans for me and my wife. My plan has all of the transactions, and my wife's plan has only her transactions. Both plans have a connection to import transactions.

"K1 Reference Number" field suddenly appeared on Expenses after PLT-8000 error

I was doing some cleanup and I got an error message when trying to load the Expenses screen:

\> PLT-8000 Validation error of type FieldUndefined: Field projectId is undefined

I restarted QBO (I use the desktop app) and the error went away, but now a new "K1 Reference Number" field has appeared when creating/editing an Expense (in both desktop and web).

I'm a sole proprietor, I don't use Schedule K-1, so how do I get rid of this field?

UPDATE: I notified Intuit and they replied saying they have addressed the issue. The K1 field has indeed been removed.

BUG - QBO is not displaying Sales Receipt reference numbers!

I was doing some cleanup today, and I don't know what happened but now ALL of my Sales Receipts are no longer displaying their Reference numbers! They are displaying their Receipt number as the Reference number.

But, if I look in the audit history for each Receipt, there is no data changes recorded, and fortunately all of the proper reference numbers are present there.

So, I think this is just a display bug rather than a data loss. But it gave me a heart attack when I first saw it. I thought I just lost 3 years worth of reference numbers for my POS and online payment processors.

Anyone else seeing this?

I was let go today. I won't be terminated until next week.

Today I got let go. My network access was blocked immediately after the meeting. Accounts were shut down. Told to power down my computer. Don't come to any more meetings.

But, they set my "official" termination date for next Wednesday, on my normal payday to give me my final check.

So, that means I can't start filing an unemployment claim today, I have to wait until next week, right?

Swiping on iOS is not as useful as swiping on Android

On Android, swiping left/right on a transaction performs the action right away. One motion. This is how swiping should work.

On iOS, swiping left/right on a transaction exposes buttons that have to then be clicked on. Two motions. It's annoying and slower.

Setting cleared status on mobile

In the mobile app, I wish it were possible to clear/unclear a transaction by just tapping directly on the C icon, like on the web app. Not having to long press and pull up a submenu every time. Gets really tedious after awhile.

I submitted this as a feature request.

Should 3rd party processor payouts be recorded as deposits or transfers?

I'm sure I already know what answer I'll get, but I'm going to ask anyway.

I do the bookkeeping for my wife's small business. I've been using QBO for 2 years now, but have 3 years worth of transaction data.

For our 3rd party processor systems - credit card reader, venmo, paypal, etc - what I have been doing is the following:

  • record each customer sale using a Sales Receipt. She does only a few sales a day, and we rarely ever need to use an Invoice.

  • debit each Sales Receipt into a Clearing account for whichever processor was used.

  • add merchant fees as a line item directly to each Sales Receipt, because I have that number handy from each system.

  • record each processor's daily payout as a Transfer from its Clearing account to her Bank account.

This works, all the revenue and fee accounts are accurate, and bank statements reconcile correctly. Even though the Sales Receipts do look a little wierd with the fees attached, but customers don't ever see receipts from QBO, only from the POS.

Should I instead record Sales Receipts to Undeposited Funds, record the daily payouts as Deposits from Undeposited Funds, and subtract merchant fees from each Deposit?

Or, at least, record payouts as Deposits from the Clearing accounts, instead of as Transfers? Again, with fees subtracted from the Deposits instead of the individual Receipts.

Using Deposits is probably the more logically way to go. I'm sure this is like comparing apples and oranges, as the underlying journals will be similar either way.

If I were to make this change going forward, is this breaking the consistency principle? Is it worth cleaning up past transactions, or is that too dangerous? The numbers wouldn't really change, but it would be a lot of work and would affect past bank reconciliations to replace Transfers with Deposits.

Does this really matter, or is this just a matter of personal preference, as long as the numbers are accurate?

I've been using YNAB for 6 months now. I wish I had started using this years ago. I was on EveryDollar before and it just didn't help me at all.

I'm still mostly paycheck to paycheck. I get paid twice a month, plus some extra payments from inherited RMDs, and my in-laws who live with me.

I received a substantial tax refund this season. I figure I'll end up using most of it towards my debts and savings, but I'm thinking I can use $2100 to cover my 1st April paycheck, and I just received my 2nd April paycheck, so I'll put those towards the May budget, plus my other payments that I'll receive any day now. And then I'll try putting my May paychecks to the June budget. And so on.

Hopefully this will work out...
