This is a build for a westmarch. I am trying to decide if it is better to take a 1-2 level dip into fighter for heavy armor proficiency and archery fighting style so I can stack AC with an infused shield and plate armor as well as free up a feat. Or to stay full artificer and just use the free feat we are given for Fighting Initiate: Archery and wear medium armor, is either one of these options objectively better than the other? Because right now I'm kind of torn.

For context I am a variant human and took Sharpshooter with the racial feat. And I intend on using a shield and a pistol.

Edit: I forgot to include that magic items are rare/non-existent in the setting! So a +1 infusion is a pretty big deal mechanically.

I’m downloading the game for the first time now and I’ve noticed there’s an open beta version, should I start playing using the beta? Or just play the current version
