Recommended Wineries

Hello All,

I'm really hoping that someone from this region can help me find a "hidden gem". Without revealing too much, the song "Good News" by Shaboozey sums up the year my wife and I have had. Her birthday is coming up and I want to take her to a really nice winery. We've already been to a few and the common ones (peller estates, 2 sisters, etc.) we've even been to Megalomaniac (which was an unexpected delight).

We aren't huge drinkers but we like wineries because there is usually some really good food, atmosphere, and beautiful scenery. Its also a little bit more upscale in terms of the experience and we like that.

Hoping that some locals, enthusiasts, or otherwise pro's can give me some recommendations.

TIA!

Where do people get sand for exercise sandbags in Oakville?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a workout sandbag on Amazon for strength training, but it doesn't come with any sand.

For those who've filled one of these before:

Where did you get your sand locally?

Is regular play sand okay, or should I be looking for something else?

Any recommendations in Oakville or nearby (Burlington/Mississauga)?

Roughly how much did you need for a 50–100 lb sandbag?

I was thinking about grabbing a few bags of play sand from somewhere like Home Depot or a landscape supply yard, but I'm not sure if there's a better/cheaper option. Play sand is commonly sold in 20–25 kg bags and is washed and screened, which seems like it would work well for fitness sandbags.

Thanks! Any tips from people who have done this before would be appreciated.

UniFi Repo Broken on Debian 13?

Running a self-hosted UniFi controller on a Debian 13 VM in Proxmox (UniFi 9.5.21). During regular apt updates I hit this from the UniFi repo:

Sub-process /usr/bin/sqv returned an error code (1)
Policy rejected non-revocation signature because SHA1 is not considered secure since 2026-02-01

I ended up disabling the UniFi repo temporarily so the rest of my automated updates could continue.

Curious what others are doing long-term:

  • Still running the traditional self-hosted controller?
  • Moving to UniFi OS Server?
  • Treating UniFi updates more manually these days?
