Campus cat was found dead yesterday, suspected poisoning by the landscapers or pest control
In the faculty advisor for our campus cat club. On Monday, a student reported finding one of our cats deceased. I immediately went to find the cat, and the position and area of campus was found in was odd. The cat wasn’t a wanderer, he mainly stuck around one place and he was found a good 300 yards from his normal area. He was in an odd position too, the best description is a puppy sprawl with the back legs kicked out and his front paws extended. There was no obvious trauma like bites or broken bones. He was not anywhere near a road either, nor would he have crossed a road going from his usual spot to the place we found him. He did have a little bit of a pinkish fluid that had come out of his mouth.
The cat itself was a 5 year old neutered male. He was a textbook example of a seal point Siamese. he's generally has been good health, and we keep up with his major vaccinations as much as possible, and also did regular flea treatments. We're in central Florida.
I don’t think the landscapers deliberately sprayed him, as he was a fan of sleeping in bushes, but they have been seen before spraying the cat shelters and their feeding boxes we have around campus.
We're now also suspecting bromethalin, as that would explain the legs looking like they were in a position that looked like the cat drug himself to the place we found him. We've contacted our facilities leadership team to ask about what they spray, but I'm guessing they're not going to admit anything.
Anyway, I’m looking for any experiences that y’all may have had with poisoned cats. This cat was well known and well liked on campus, so there are a lot of students, faculty, and staff who want to know what happened.
looking for 3 12TB 7200rpm SATA drives to finish building out my NAS.
price depends on manufacturer and hours.
Willing to pay extra to have them properly packaged (minimum of wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap, foam, or in a clamshell and shipped in a properly sized box, not a poly bag) so they survive the trip to me.
