Taskade is obviously about to collapse - can we export apps?

It’s increasingly clear that Taskade won’t be around for long.

Is it possible for us to export apps and provide them to Clause Code to rebuild, making that process faster? Or does that not make sense?

Button press does nothing

Of all the apps on my Gen 1 Ultra, I’d say I only have success when pressing an app button about half the time.

The screen is working as the “press” feedback animation works, but no effect happens to the app.

This is generally true for social media notifications, Spotify navigation (works maybe 2/3 of the time), maps, and messenger.

Anyone else getting this?

Hackathon in Terrigal 24/7-26/7

Hey there.

Hope this is OK (not selling anything … it’s all free).

I run Skillion Spaces coworking in Terrigal, but just wanted to spread the word about a free event that’s being held in capital cities, and the Coast is the only regional hub included. It’ll be with us in Terrigal for the weekend.

The Hackathon is for anyone who wants to blitz through working on a business idea among good company. We are donating our space for the weekend and bringing along some advisors and mentors if you need them.

A Brisbane company (Pinch Payments) are putting up a $50K prize, and The Founders Union are sponsoring our catering (so you can eat for free).

Some of the awesome experienced members at Skillion Spaces are volunteering as mentors. They get nothing from this other than to help folks who are wanting to give business a go for themselves.

- a communications and pitching coach
- a startup / small biz lawyer
- an experienced tech founder
- a tech whiz who types with more than two fingers at a time

If you wanna get involved, just register at the link in the comments.

Hope to see some folks there :)

What is this symbol seen on the side of a building in Sydney?

I can see Hindu symbols, but is that a crucifix with a circle on top? And is this the Star of David?

A cool guide to the dynamics of online polarization

Many discussions about democracy focus on misinformation. But another challenge may be equally important: distorted perceptions of social reality.

Social media often functions like a funhouse mirror, amplifying the most extreme voices who dominate online discourse. As a result, people come to falsely believe those voices represent society and public opinion far more than they actually do.

People often describe social media as a town hall or a technology that fosters democratic participation. But this data suggests the opposite pattern in terms of how people actually use it. For instance, authoritarian tendencies are about 3X as likely to predict whether people share their political opinion on social media (compared to pro-democratic values).

Upload speeds are SLOW (32 - 96KB/sec but my Speedtest shows 32MB/sec upload speed via Starlink)

I want to support pCloud, but uploading (either via a browser or via the MacOS app) is like dial-up internet speed.

My upload to Google Drive was around 8MB/sec. Meanwhile pCloud is, at times, 32KB/sec and 1MB/sec at absolute best (very rarely).

This has been the case for me generally for several years, both in Australia and when traveling abroad.

I am aware that different denominations take differing stances on divorce in general, and remarriage.

In my own case: my ex spouse and I divorced. There was regrettably infidelity on both sides. She was also physically violent toward me.

In my own case, I confessed the infidelity and attended marriage counseling for a couple of years, and repented personally to God. My ex was unapologetic about her own infidelity and I’m unsure of her relationship with God.

I don’t really have an ambition to marry again. But if that changes in future, do the various bible verses describing remarriage, define that as adultery for me at that time?

I’m finding it hard to interpret whether those verses describe something universal for all time literally, or culturally specific for the time?

If literally for all time, where does the bible teaching permit a spouse to leave following violence, or that type of abuse? Where also does this accommodate repentance and people being able renew their lives and start over?

As I said, I’m very much not looking to remarry. But I’d like to know if doing so in future would literally be adultery at that time.
