Looking for shared office space

Hi there - I work from home in a small home office but I want to make a change. I’m looking for a desk somewhere, ideally with a place where I can take my (fortunately rare) meetings. Any suggestions?
If you hear of a company that currently rents offices that are slightly too big and want to sublet a corner for me, I’d be open to that.
Thanks!

Stolen E-Bike in our residence (brow of the hill)

Hi all - this is a bit of a cry for help, but my friend got her e-bike stolen in our residence last night. It was outside their home in our (closed!) residence and it was gone in the morning. I'm attaching pictures of the bike in case you see it, the battery was removed so it might get dumped somewhere..?

I'm not super hopeful but I feel pretty powerless and pretty frustrated for them since they use it to take their kids to school/activities.

Note: the bike no longer has the orange seat, they've switched to a bigger "caboose" (attached in the last picture).

Thank you!

There is a first place prize of $50 in Market Money (not to mention bragging rights). Slices of your pie will then be sold to the community by donation and the money will go to the New West Pride Society.

Suggestions for brunch?

Hello! I’m looking for a place to go for brunch tomorrow. The only place that comes up in my mind is Angelina’s but I’m looking for something different.

Any suggestions?

Spirit Halloween is taking over Tipperary Park

It’s not the first time I’ve seen these decors on Queen but it looks bigger than last time. Apparently they’re shouting a TV Show but I’m not sure which one. Maybe Wayfair Witches?

What's the number one tool you'd recommend to improve your gradle setup?

Hi there - We're using Gradle at work to build a bunch of backend services written in Kotlin, everything lives in a monorepo and we have a lot of subprojects for shared libraries, etc. Overall I'm happy with the setup, but, our project is getting relatively big with 90+ subprojects.

I was wondering if you had any tools to recommend to detect things that could be improved in the way we setup our project?

I'm keeping my question vague on purpose because I want to cast a wide net.

Thank you!

Recommendation for a company to replace a water heater?

I’ve searched for plumbing companies around here and asked 4 or 5 to send me an estimate to change our water heater via email. None of them responded, despite using their contact forms on their website. Maybe they don’t need my money? I’d rather keep it but I’d also like my house not to explode, so it’s quite the conundrum.

I’m considering calling directly, like some kind of animal, but if you have a company to recommend, ideally with a direct contact, you might become my favourite person.

British Columbia vs Quebec for small claims

Hi there - During COVID, my friend's business was suffering and they asked me if I could front them some money. I wasn't surprised since I like the business and I'd expressed interest in investing in the past, so I said yes. Of course, since I'm naive and very trusting, I didn't wait for any paperwork to appear. I was feeling bad for them and because I was working remotely for a big company, I felt some guilt of being safe while so many people couldn't work. Amyway. We kept talking and they kept me posted about the business, how they were waiting for a grant so they could pay me back... until they stopped responding. As far as I can tell the business is still open, but most socials haven't been updated so it's not clear to me.

I've (mostly) made my peace with the fact that I won't get my money back (a little under 11k CAD), but I need closure, so I'm thinking of taking them to small claims. I have saved our conversations and the dates for the transfers I made, so I'm hoping that's proof enough to open a file.

I live in BC while the business is in QC, so where should I file? I'm assuming BC, but I actually don't know. Also, is there anything I should know about small claims?

Thanks a lot!

Burned the bottom of my Instant Pot

Hi there - I burned the bottom of my Instant Pot by putting it on my stove and twisting a knob by mistake. I noticed before it was too bad... or so I thought. Now the bottom is melted and the wires are visible, so I'm assuming it's not safe to use anymore... but on the off chance that someone went through the same ordeal, can you get the bottom replaced?

Note that I'll probably buy another one because we've had this one for years and we use it a lot, but I figured it was worth asking.

Thanks!
