PR & ‘ influencers’ make my bloody boil

PR & ‘ influencers’ make my bloody boil

This is apparently all of the things an ‘influencer’ has received from pr over the last 2 months. Genuinely makes me feel sick when the world is burning, there are people not able to afford to feed or clothe their family, not only that but all the people that have worked hard all their life and could never afford anything like this. Those that have important jobs like nurses, doctors, teachers etc… go without and those that deserve to get rewarded, never do. All for it to just end up in landfill anyway?! Absolute insanity. Why is this not illegal? Mind you, they only have 500k followers, imagine what those 10x that get?

Ireland at Christmas time

Hi, I’m currently doing a trip round Europe in a camper and have the travel bug now! My next time off will be at Christmas time for 3 weeks. I was thinking of doing interrailing, getting the 4 day pass and staying in hostels.

I wanted to stay in maybe Dublin and Cork but other than that I’m open to staying wherever. I prefer scenic and quiet over cities. Anyone have any suggestions? I know it’s probably not the ideal time to go as may be busy with the season in the main cities and things probably shut in the smaller places lol. I love a Christmas market or ice rink so anything like that and I’ll be golden (all I’ve been thinking about in this heat!)

[TOMT] [Music] help me remember this indie album late 00s/ early 10s

The album cover had a vintage look, in black and white/ sepia colour with a man and a woman holding each other looking at the camera. There was a caravan in the background. The song I used to play on repeat was a woman’s name if I remember rightly? The genre was like indie. Very reminiscent of like early tumblr vibes. If anyone has any ideas that would be amazing, thanks!

The waiting game drives me crazy

Hey all! A bit about me - always known I was DC and i was on the sibling register as soon as I was able, had 1 sibling come up when we were 18. We’ve met a few times and we get on. Speak occasionally. Everything has been quiet on that front since - it’s been 4 years since I’ve had a match, which I thought weird as we would all be in our early 20s now and I would think some would be curious about their background, providing they knew.

Fast forward to last month- I had another sibling come up on ancestry. I sent sibling (no. 1) I’m in contact with a screenshot and we were excited to speak to them, we also saw that they had put their details on the sibling registry, which would come through in 20 days. The details finally came through and it turned out it was a new sibling! So I’ve had 2 new ones in the last month.

I’ve messaged them both but neither of them have replied yet. The waiting game to get the ball moving with them is driving me insane!

I completely appreciate we’re all different and they may have mixed feelings about the whole thing, maybe they hadn’t known until recently. For me, it’s always been hugely exciting and within 20 minutes of connecting me and DC sibling no. 1 were talking and getting to know each other! It’s been about a month since the 2nd came through and a few days since the 3rd but the last few days have been a bit of a weird feeling. DC sibling no.1 reached out to DC sibling no.3 and they replied to them, but not me yet.

Again, I completely appreciate that I am very spoilt for choice and I’m really lucky to even have 3 names known. I just can’t understand why they aren’t as excited as me lol. I’ve been struggling to sleep at the moment, waiting and hoping for an email to come through. Just wanted to get it off my chest!

I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this sub - throughout the years when I have had conflicting thoughts, feelings and emotions that have arisen on my DC journey, this sub has always been a clutch for me so I feel less alone, so thank you.

Hit a fox last night

I was going home last night and a fox suddenly ran out in front of me and just stopped and stared at my car like a deer caught in headlights. It happened within seconds and I didn’t have time to register what was happening to put my foot on the break in time and I hit him head on. I looked in my rear view mirror and he was having what looked like a fit on the floor. I turned around to see if he was still there (I was hoping he had just died straight away) but he had ran off.

I feel fucking awful about it and have felt sick all day. Part of me wishes it had just died straight away, I feel so guilty knowing it’s got away injured and probably slowly dying. I genuinely didn’t have enough time to react, it happened so quickly. I just keeping thinking about its little face looking at me. Just wanted to write my feelings down somewhere, never thought I would be “that person”… please be nice, I’ve beaten myself up enough already.

How to secure studs better?

Hi all, I bought this bag knowing it had quite a few studs missing. I didn’t think it was an issue, I just bought a pack of studs to replace the missing ones. Hours of my time and lots of cuts and bleeding fingers later, my replacement ones are falling out too.

How can I get them properly secured so they won’t fall out?! Thank in advance

This text is the story of my life

I seriously hate our generation man I have fucking no friends and I ALWAYS get ghosted after planning something. This has seriously happened about 5 times now, with different people. Why can’t someone just say “I can’t do today now sorry” instead of just getting aired all day. I’m seriously so sick of this shit man, I’m so lonely

Help!

It was going reasonably well until I got to the “o” in to. It just looks really silly from a far- how can I fix it? Can I sand it down slightly and do it again?

Feeling a bit lost

Hey, thought I would post on here as you guys will understand.

I’ve always been comfortable with the fact I was DC. Never really been an issue for me as I’ve always known. I found my donor through ancestry and long story short we have (had?) a good relationship. I even got sent money each year for my birthday. I never expected anything and I’ve always been incredibly grateful even for contact with them. However, the last few years they’ve grown distant and barely contact me anymore. I’m not entirely sure why.

I have 2 donor siblings that have come up on ancestry. One I’ve met and talk to occasionally, but she’s awful for replying (maybe it runs in the blood, lol). I don’t take it personally but we’ve had a new match come up and I sent her a screenshot. I’ve had radio silence from her. Again, not too unusual but thought I would have heard something. I message my new DC sibling on ancestry and they have also read it but not replied. My brother was conceived by the same donor. He’s really unbothered by it all too.

Idk, it’s been really weighing on me recently. I feel really alone with how I’m feeling, I feel like I don’t know how to feel - these people don’t owe me anything, I know that, but I just feel a bit hurt. Why don’t they have as much interest in me as I do them? I’m trying not to take it personally but I’m finding it really hard to navigate my feelings. Hope this can resonate with someone.
